I was fired from a job after 3 months of 60 hours a week because my car didn't start on the coldest day on record in my city. All they said was I should buy a new car.

Mech engineer here, pretty sure I make double the national average at 30 hr work week (half of which is spent on breaks, coffees and such). I had 4 months off last year and I will have 3 months off this year. I can work like this until I’m 80 and not get tired.

False, working at a Jewish owned bakery as a teenager for a summer job did indeed force a 22 hour work day. We had a large amount of orders and due to me being able to have worked that long, I did. To avoid legal issues of working more than 8 hours as a person of that age, I was required to clock out and just clock back in, and they were fine.

Friend work code, 5x my salary, go to work at 10-11 in the morning, get off work at 5-6 in the afternoon. Engineers are some of the least appreciated and most necessary jobs. You only get time and a half past 40 hours a week if you are paid hourly. That's why companies pay professionals salaries. If you are a professional you might get 2 weeks vacation. No guarantee.
