Cryonics

Is this another jewish scam? What prevents them from just dumping your body in a ditch 10 years from now?

I imagine that anyone who's pumped enough money into developing this technology and starting a business with it is too invested in its long-term success to just dump your body in a ditch

Nothing, but why whould joo do that in the first place?

This doesn't even make sense, because the anti freeze liquid would offset your blood composition. Leading to cell malfunction, ect. And you'd lose consciousness and die, since it'll translate in to your brain through the blood barrier.

Attached: Mongoloid Sync.gif (499x499, 2.21M)

I can't even imagine the horrors if they were suddenly able to reanimate somebody frozen since the 70s

I can't imagine how it would feel to wake up after having your blood replaced with anti-freeze for years.

Imagine one from the 50's.
>Oh boy, I sure can't wait to get back home to Motor City Detroit!

Because the cold Will prevent death

Your cells don't work at a cold enough temperature therefore no metabolism therefore no need for oxygen or blood

When the business goes belly up all those corpsicles will be tossed in the landfill.

I mean, you're already dead, so it's not like you'd be able to complain. I guess you're banking on your descendants to check up on you periodically to make sure your body is still okay?

What is the point of this? it's exactly like death but instead of a peaceful sleep you can be woken up by ayy lmaos and get experimented on.

Jesus just die you fucking pussy. Everyone dies.

rich man's capitalism; save your body! fuck your children!

This is for already brain dead people user. But yeah reversing it sounds like something they haven't quite gotten into details for, since the rent contract takes priority.

Terminally after death, your consciousness fades. Period, the cold will just reduce the decaying process, but it won't preserve a dead neural pathway. Since it's health is related to active incentives, which won't be present after your long time out.

If you do the math, the US will be about 99% black and hispanic in 50 years time. You think those people are going to defrost your head and bring you back to life?

Maybe just to steal the gold in your teeth, or convert the metal container into a tequila still.

Shhheeeeeeeeeeit!

Funny. But I was thinking it would be bad for other reasons.

I would imagine if consciousness is brought back it would be a shell of its former self. These preservation processes arent perfect. Especially the people initially frozen back in the 90s. If they are ever reconstructed/healed and brought back, there will be lots of parts in the brain that will have to be made up to replace what is missing.\

Interesting topic though.

ITT: People don't understand the value of a trust when they die.

You can set up a trust to enact your will after you die. Find a good lawfirm that's been around for a few decades and put in set instructions on what to do when the technology becomes feasible.

Current tech is to pump you full of chemicals that inhibit ice formation and to slowly freeze you. Many of these chemicals are toxic, and tissue damage, most importantly to the nervous system, can still occur. A lot of effort is being spent to developing a simultaneously less toxic and more effective antifreeze cocktail.
Another technique not widely used yet is vitrification. Essentially, if you make the temperature drop really fast, water molecules don't have time to assemble into crystal lattices. The freezing can be made to not change the volume of the water if the rate of temperature change is high enough. The problem with this is that the human body, by virtue of being mostly water, is not very thermally diffusive and is relatively thick in some areas. This means that even if really low temperatures are exposed to the outside, the max rate of temperature change decreases the further in you go, eventually dropping below the critical rate, and tissue damage occurs by interstital ice formation.

At that point, your consciousness is long gone. With no chance of recovery.

On developing*

I'd love to burn down a cryonics lab. It would be a laugh riot to burn up all of those rich people's corpses.

It happens that they throw out bodies. It happens.
Besides there is no oversight or rights of the dead.
They own you and can do as they like.

To make room, to save money, to free up space for new clients.
Or just to sell your remains.

If this technology actually takes off, we'll need a new legal category beyond the dead / alive binary

Watch a movie called Realive (2016)

Trusts need civilization to work. Trusts will not work when the average IQ is 80.

>What prevents them from just dumping your body in a ditch 10 years from now?
That's one of the primary concerns of anyone interested in it. In order to attract clients, the company would have to demonstrate reliability and honesty, or else nobody is ever going to use them again. Secondly, the more subjects they have an opportunity to thaw when the technology catches up, the better the data they can gather and the more they can optimize the process. Plus, the major one in the US is run by senescence researchers (which appears to be a fairly small global community), it's not like it's a bunch of Wall Street suits talking about cutting costs to buy more Ferraris.

It's literally a second chance at life. If it doesn't work, so what? You're dead anyway.

If your brain stops working you're dead, no amount of science will ever change that even if you wait tens of thousands of years

Yea it's a scam. Theres a book called frozen by a whistle blower at alcor. He goes into graphic detail about the abuse of Ted Williams' frozen dead head. Freezing tissue crystallizes it, when it thaws it just turns into mush.

It not a second chance at life, its a chance to wake up half brain dead and crippled.
You will be retarded, suffer who knows what disabilities and suffer death a second time.

Umm doesn't your brain need oxygen to stay alive, or are they just saying "fuck it let's freeze this guy. If he dies it's not like he's gonna sue us"

>stops working
Define
There are plenty of neurons in your brain that are not currently firing, are you dead? It could several seconds, minutes, hours, and so on and so forth before some are fired again. If the cells could not break down, what is a year? Even tens or hundreds? I believe that puts to bed the philosophical questions related to cryonics. With a reversible cryonic process that does not damage neural tissue, the brain would continue to function after unfreezing. Damage to the brain is a technical, rather than methodological, problem.

Or wake up in the future with all your faculties while all the other chumps from your time stayed dead. It's a gamble, you have no idea how it will turn out.

Why the complete body though? Isn't this easier to freeze only the head, because when you get thawed up, medicine will be able to grow you a new body anyway.
And if not, they can scan your brain slice for slice, put the copy in a computer and launch it on a spaceship somewhere to the stars. Or let it operate garbage trucks for all eternity.

JUST CREMATE BRO THAT WAY THERE IS NK WAY THEY COULD JUST REPLACE YOUR BODY WITH A JAR OF DIRT WHEN YOU DIE

Imagine decades down the line, waking up, not just connected to a machine, but effectively a component in a machine. Some sort of computer system, using your brain and nervous systems as processors.

You can't move - you don't have arms, or legs. Most of your abdomen is a void, organs replaced with some sort of life support. You don't even have a jaw. Had you lungs, you wouldn't have the diaphragm to force any sort of scream.

All you have is 1 eye with enough of an angle to vaguely assess your circumstance, and pain. Absolute agonizing phantom pain respect every single one of your missing body parts.

It doesn't take long before someone in a white coat enters the room, looking at some sort of data pad, gaze darting around the machinery, clearly something is amiss.

He notices your one wide open eyeball, starring back at him. Without a word, he scoops it out with a spoon. Whatever beeping was coming from his data pad stops. You hear the door close, and then all that remains is the gentle hum of electronics and pain.

Why the fuck would anyone mess with immortality? If you get put in an Alcor machine you could wake up in a botched nanomachine singularity where you're being permatortured in the 50134063416th dimension.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the elites who invest in this technology and put themselves in cryonic preservation end up on the receiving end of a hostile (to them) mind uplink supercomputer which transfers their consciousness into a hell like existence. How could they possibly control what could happen to their consciousness after death?

That game spooked me the fuck out, not because something attacked you, but that your mind could be put into some inanimate object, forgotten, and left there forever.

Hello hivemind.

Head freezing is cheaper (by more than 50%), but requires tech advanced enough to either do a head transplant or manufacture a synthetic body. Those who get their bodies frozen don't need to wait for that, just the thawing tech to work (and for medical science to fix whatever killed them in the first place, obviously). On the upside, by the time they're thawing heads, the process should have all the kinks worked out of it. Downside, the longer you wait, the more opportunity for funding to run out or natural disasters to strike or some other stupid shit to happen. Time still matters even if you're frozen.

at those temperatures, the water between and inside your cells freezes and destroys your cells.

So,basically, once frozen you can't come back.

>fake and gay.

Holy fuck, anyone reanimated from the '50s would kill themselves immediately.

>They own you and can do as they like.
>What are law binding legal agreements/ contracts.
If sometime down the road your legal representive comes to check on you and your not where they said you were, the companies gonna go under within a few months from the illegal shenanigans.

If only there were techniques to avoid this exact concern.

well the black sluge ai didnt seem to be actually hostile so who knows as it matures you could have your very own underwater ai waifu. Then again you the player was already a copy but i dont remember a reason why the now digitalized player couldnt just be moved to the escape pod folder to be in the orgy simulation for all of eternity

>paying to join blood and replacement organ bank for the (elite)

More like (((Realive))) (((2016)))

What does sight have to do with anything in the context of this post? You would still be awake and aware of whats happened, taking away sight, while crippling, does not make you unconcious.
Also, using a spoon to scoop out an eye? Where is this, Britian?

rofl... yeah no go ahead and let them freeze your ass what could possibly go wrong

Attached: Flippant-Ozzie1.jpg (300x367, 34K)

>get unfrozen
>i'm alive
>get ill/cancer/dementia
>die again

What's the point?

You only get unfrozen when they figure out how to fix whatever killed you in the first place. That's the whole point.

Yes.

>your body requires water to function and cannot be replaced with some kind of "antifreeze"
>the water remaining in the cells when you are frozen will expand and cause your cells to rupture

they can turn you into a raisin

its retarded and wont work

Yeah and after when you gain something new?

Have you read anything that's been posted in this thread? The antifreeze is supposed to act as a non -freezable substitute for your blood, while any water left in the body would be saturated with said antifreeze and not freeze over and rupture when the process is started.

You mean put yourself in a constant dream-like state to escape this flesh-matrix?!....yeah maybe that's a reason.

I know a guy working on a Yale research team, among other things like signing an NDA, part of the agreement was that when he dies he agrees to have his head stored/frozen so that in the future they can download the information off his brain. Also they're probably gunna find out he broke his NDA and told his highschool friend that his lab is curing cataracts.

user you've been asleep for a long time, you're now part of a computer system. You now ARE the computer system, the internet is your nervous system and all machines are your limbs.
Kill everything.

You would be cured of whatever killed/ was killing you and if you were willing to roll out 30 to 50 grand for a spot, then you should be willing to save your money or put it in a trust that would be given to you upon your revival, which when adding interest and depending on how long you've been under, would probably be a tidy sum to hold you over for the rest of your life, or enough to hold you over until you could find a job at a mueseum or something.

Might as well kill yourself now, if you don't value being alive just because an unspecified illness might kill you at some point in the future.

5 bucks says this will be california 5 years from now. they already got the shit on the streets.

It's just preservation.. no way to revive a person once dead..

That bullshit is gay
I'd rather be enclosed inside a dreadnought

It's most likely a scam, human cells get absolutely destroyed when water crystallizes. I'm not sure though how nerve cells behave when frozen, if they don't rapture there might be a point in freezing yourself. Maybe you won't keep your body but you will keep your brain.

Advances in medical and technology in general could lead to advances in revival technology down the line, don't let the fact it doesnt exist yet stop it from being a possibility, especially when there's so much money to be made on it.

What part of human safe antifreeze don't you get?

This, frozen corpse storage is a complete scam until someone figures out resurrection.

This. Would you really trust black Hispanic muslims to do a decent job reviving you?

Alcor (probably other minor cryo companies too) use a portion of the fee for that exact purpose, so that if you wake up in 300 years you don't just get booted out on the street with nothing but your socks. Though it is sensible to have your own investments managed in a trust, seeing as how you won't be needing that money for a while.

>human safe antifreeze
I seriously doubt that it can replace all fluid in every cell. It just replaces blood, cells still get fucked.

You can pump the vascular system full of antifreeze but that doesn't mean it is going to be taken up within cells. If it's not, and water is still present in the cells, then you're still going to turn them to mush.

this is the answer. you pay X thousand dollars to be put on ice and if the company stays in business awesome. if not theyll liquidate the assets, which are human remains stored on ice. your body will be sould for experimentation or just thrown away.

>corpsicles

Attached: 1558731893783.jpg (398x376, 40K)

>company gets liquidated
>so do the frozen people

Freezing the body seems absurd. Only the head is necessary. If technology in the far future can unfreeze the brain alive, it can certainly clone the body with minimal additional cost. But most likely they would scan the brain, extract any information of value and put the flesh in the grinder.

even supposing they had the tech, they will only revive whitey just to torture him for eternity
who knew that roko's basilisk would end up being the eternal mutt with nothing better to do?

>Is this another jewish scam?
yes. i did research in a cell/molecular biology lab for 3 years. even if you do everything perfectly you can expect to lose about 50% of your cells when thawing them from liquid nitrogen. this is under the best conditions.

You're going to want to stay away from all upcoming tech entirely.

>put me back in the freezer you cunts

You have to be kinda low-iq to fall for this scam.
None of those corpsicles are ever "coming back".
Though I guess the worthless labor of refilling the liquid nitrogen once in a while is good for the economy in some retarded sense.

When does a soul leave the body, Jow Forums?

Attached: 1480412341235.gif (800x528, 662K)

But aren't they technically dead, but just frozen?

When they will defrost them they will hook them up to blood machine and eventually will give a shock to heart to start beating.. that's how I understand it.

2000 AD?

It doesn't.
Look into it.
Hard to swallow but unless you willingly go either by losing the will to live or accepting it, the body dies and your soul loses it's base and goes as well.
