When I was a teenager I use to listen to metal as loud as my Walkman possibly could go every single day for 4 hours a day. I have a little bit of hearing loss but it's mostly come back over ten years.

Back when I played CS as a teen I could hear so well I'd shoot enemies through walls as I heard them coming. The old fucks couldn't hear it and neither can I anymore. They just thought I was hacking.

Though, the hallucinations aren't actually that bad. It's all the "negative" symptoms that medication don't really help that makes it so disabling.

Tinnitus is TERRIBLE, for your entire existence, in every instant in which you are conscious, you hear a loud high pitched sound that never ever stops. That's in the worst cases, of course. I suffered loud tinnitus for a couple of months and i was desperate, but fortunately it became mild once i got a dental guard, as apparently nocturnal bruxism was (and is, i guess) causing the tinnitus

I think I have it mildly. It's really fucking loud when it is quiet or when I'm trying to sleep but I usually have a fan or something on during the day so I don't hear anything.
Can't you just meditate and use your tinnitus as a focus point? This way you can probably stay in a meditative state indefinitely.
Life never heals. I have tinnitus and still listen to loud music and shoot every weekend while working with power tools. I protect my hearing now because I like to hear but I don't spend my time crying over spilt milk like a little faggot.
I've had it since I was a kid. It's not terrible (4/10 maybe) but mine isn't a high pitch ring. Most of the time, it's a washing/static noise. I'll only get high pitched rings randomly maybe once a day, out of no where. All of a sudden it's like someone shot a 12g beside my head, and then 5 minutes later it's back to the static.
I'm usually able to drown it out and don't notice it unless I consciously try to.

There are many different things all covered by tinnitus. I've got high pitch ringing and sensitivity to volume, but the worst part is the vibration. My ear drum feels like it has rapid spasms. I'm a musician, so it really sucks. Still wouldn't kill myself.

Sometimes my peaks are short - usually if I have an ear bud in or something, and it'll sound like it broke but when I take it out the ringing is still there.

Weird, I have tinnitus and also recently have been having an easier time with the fan on. I had just attributed it to cooling me down.
Have done it. It helps. Honestly though, you just don't think about it most of the time unless there is something worse going on in your life. It's hard to explain but basically tinnitus is worse when you are alone and depressed, drinking makes it worse. When your brain is active it forgets, when it is spinning its wheels is when you suffer.

Tinnitus is often damage at the auditory nerve, I don't think even surgery would help. Removing the eardrum would just make the auditory stimulus go away, the tinnitus would remain. I bet even if the auditory nerve were removed the it would not stop the tinnitus, it may even make it worse.

The daily damage is happening faster than your body can fix. I have an idea I want to try if I ever get the money: pressurized oxygen chamber treatment. It forces more oxygen into your system, affecting the places where there is less blood flow. I have heard it being used to treat macular degeneration for the same reason.

Ear protection. Avoided ling term exposure to medium loud constant noise. Don't get hit in the head. Be kind to your nervous system in general. Don't get awful infections that can cause labriththitus.
I have this eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee sound as well when it's really quiet but once I concentrate on it I start hearing my own heartbeat and then start contemplating of how much shit the heart of animals does and that it could be totally understandable if it were to just stop and then I could fucking die.
