The red army was, operationally on its last legs during the battle of Berlin, everything and I do mean everything behind them all the way to Moscow was burned out, there was effectively no supplies to loot, their supply line was overstretched and inadequate. The only reason the Red army was able to get to Berlin and fight was due to looting. I’m not arguing against that, it was effective. But realistically if Patton attacked and dragged the rest of the army groups into a war against the USSR then you’re looking at a Russian defeat. The US hadn’t even deployed the draft in full little known fact there but in ww2 the amount of applicants was so high that selection was done by lottery for volunteers. America had just switch to war economy, and they supplied the USSR with a fuck ton of their food, bullets, aircraft, but most importantly. Trucks and repair parts. I’m not saying it would be a cake walk. But the USSR could not fight against an American led offensive after Berlin with any hope of wining.
We all fought on the wrong side, but we need to all acknowledge that the fighting was brutal whatever front there was and it was a team effort spear headed by the USSR and the USA and GB with he rcommunwealths. Everyone else was kids table level of commitment. In any case the media over blows both the western and eastern front way too much. The pacific was much more interesting and brutal.
