This. It also forces the creator to no longer be able to capitalize his works. Developers then become laborers and only dark pools of money fund and own tech creating monopolies. Big Tech is big because open source demolished competition.

I really really like Linux.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system
that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run.
The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is
normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system

This sectors pays well everywhere, the only problem is that it isn't healthy. I get to spend 11 hours on a screen, not much time for friends & family -- not to mention enough time for yourself. Your boss is angry because a breach / bug happened and proceeds to call you at 3 A.M. There's not much choice here anyway, if you decline to come then you are fired. This is pretty much it for Networking / Pentesting engineers.

I don't even know myself after 10 years in this sector, it's just a dead end. I'll just collect enough to retire at age 37 and live a simple ife.

ALL software is already free if you know where to look.

Linux is less free than BSD, and Linux is all pozzed up by the NSA.

But the best option going forward is 9front, which had no attacks against it in the Shadow Brokers or Vault 7 leaks. 9front even includes a Markov-chain troll post generator in its suite of command line tools.
