Drove down route 3 in Clifton, NJ. Maybe 100 ambulances staging on the left shoulder, waiting to go to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford to stage some more. Saw names from little Jersey shore towns a good 100 miles away.

Drove past the Train station in Passaic. Instead of being dead quite and dark there were maybe 100 people standing around awaiting for relatives they hoped would be taking trains out of the city. The Salvation Army canteen truck was giving out coffee and donuts.

Sleeping. Had to run to station n play red.white.n blue all day.

I was sitting in my living room having my early morning beer before work and watching Katie Couric's legs on the today show. I ended up calling off of work that day.

My dad woke me up early to tell me a plane had hit the world trade centre. Just as I was coming down the stairs, the second one hit. Whether it was 12 yr old prescience or a lucky shot, I don't know, but I pretended to be sick and stayed home from school and watched CNN for six hours at home alone.

I remember exactly what I was doing. I was in 6th grade hanging out blacks since I went to a black school. The teacher told us about it and I didnt care because I didnt know anyone in Jew York city.

Knew a girl who worked overnight at the NY Daily News. She went through the Trade Center subway station a half hour before the attack, took the Staten Island Ferry home, and went to bed.
She wakes up 8 hours later, turns on the TV, saw lower Manhattan in ruins, and ran out into the street screaming. She spent 3 days in a phyc hospital.

I was sleeping too, but I lived in Manhattan, working in a bar until 4 am. Pretty weird thing to wake up to 8 hours after it happened. Didn't have to go to work, though. Everyone in the building was on the roof, same with the surrounding buildings (this is uptown).

I vaguely remember getting home from school and just standing there glued to the TV; foggy memories of the following marches in protest as our government decided they were going into Iraq, and the societal shift towards justifying the slaughter of people in the pursuit of WMDs that didn't exist - and the possession of which was redundant regardless.
