Small populations (except for Germany and Britain). Protestant reformation was so easy process in the North because Catholic church had always been very decentralized in sparsely populated forests, going to church in Sweden for example only became mandatory in the first place after state church started enforcing church going duty.

Having less central authority, as Protestant cultures has had since Reformation & Thirty Year War came to end, is the key for their success really.
Orthodox culture really shouldn't have problem imitating this, since the local churches have considerable amount of autonomy too.
On orthodox countries there are other historical scars and geopolitical realities (like Western Russia being flat and easily accessible by any army, while in Greek it's completely the opposite) that are affecting the mentality of the nations.
There's a lot of potential in Eastern Europe, only the materialist & self-centered interest that people have over communal pride that Protestants or even Chinese have, is the key hinderer. This is bound to change in time thanks to modern age tech thou. Prots or Chinese didn't turn rich and magnificent in 10 years, it took at least half a century to create the homogeneous & harmonious base for such activities.
