The only raise that would work long term is to back currency with a noninflationary asset like gold, silver, or crypto. Raising wages treats the symptom not the disease.
The problem with the free market is that since currency is fiat and the economy is inflationary wages are driven higher and higher as is the desire for ever greater profits to maintain purchasing power. In theory everyone should be free to find a different job but as everything rises in expenses entry becomes more and more exclusive and demanding. This would be fixed in part by a serious upheaval of monetary policy.
