The moon is not in a geostationary orbit. It is tidally locked... which means the same side always faces the planet. What you're responding to is true, there is no "dark side" of the moon. What happens when there's an eclipse? The "dark side" gets sunlight and the side facing earth does not. What happens when there's a new moon (you know, when you can't see it)? The "dark side" is facing the sun. The only phase where the "dark side" isn't getting sunlight is on a full moon.
