Is it a sign of our times that people widely believe concepts like religion need to be 'proven' in order to be valid, especially supposed intelligentsia? I feel like this is the end of the world, or at least humanity.

What kind of a ridiculous question is that?

Atheism is the only religion that pretends it's not a religion, user.

I think it is a pretty good question. I don't see why this mode of existence is worth preserving.

if anything it's just the end of another cycle; another downfall of civilisation into a new one. unless Armageddon happens

The anti-intellectual sentiment that religion need not be true, that it exists purely for political or social purposes, is exactly the reason religion is on the decline.

>religion need not be true, that it exists purely for political or social purposes
nowhere did i even imply this

where's the statue from?

>Is it a sign of our times that people widely believe concepts like religion need to be 'proven' in order to be valid

Then what is this intended to mean?

That people cannot understand that religion must be taken axiomatically, on faith, and would rather just parrot things like "well prove God exists."

Precisely. That sentiment you've just expressed is heretical, and the reason the Faith is dying. The correct and Christian response is 'Fine I'll prove it', followed by appeals to history, logic, theology, prophecy, and philosophy.

based and redpilled and correct

>appeals to history, logic, theology, prophecy, and philosophy
These are all philosophical. However, all of this has to occur under the context of faith and authority of scripture.

People want to be able to point out God under a microscope, that is what I am seeing today. Rationalism has gotten the Church in a lot of trouble in the past and it is now worse than ever. There must be balance.

LMAO putting your faith in "God" is retarded, might as well put your blind faith in the idea of Eternal Life.

>this is the end if the world
They've been saying this since millenia.

Nonsense, the authority of Scripture is substantiated by these things. The very word Faith has been distorted. The word in Greek is Pistis and its literal meaning is 'to be persuaded'. The people who hold 'faith' today have not been persuaded. The word faith today means belief in the lack of evidence, or more seriously in SPITE of the evidence. In short the biblical sin of delusion is the real meaning of Faith in the minds of the modern believer. What little wonder that people as philosophically shallow as the modern atheist is able to run rings around them. If you want to know why the churches are empty and God's throne covered in thick darkness don't look back to some imaginary prehistory when people just took your word for it. Rather look to the prophet Hosea who laments [albeit in different context] the true tragedy of the Age.

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge!"

What is the difference?

To me, Christianity is the refinement of the self in a very specific manner, in which behavior leading away from a sense of fulfillment is labeled as irrational desire resulting from original sin, which we overcome through virtue bolstered and made whole by faith, i.e. attempting to bring one's self in line with the 'absolute good,' or God. It seems more like a goal than something that is objectively true from a rationalist's point of view, you can't point to some man in the sky and say "this is god." It is all abstract.

Both of you talk like fags. Either repent and profess your faith in Christ, or get the fuck back to re*dit goddamn underage big brain fedoras

>religion must be taken axiomatically, on faith
Then it shouldn't be taken at all.
If something is not true you shouldn't act as if it is

Well, I guess nothing is true then.

>Fine I'll prove it', followed by appeals to history, logic, theology, prophecy, and philosophy
But that doesn't work. None of those things offer any proof for religion. Except theology and philosophy because they're bullshit fields for dumbasses.

Logic and faith are linked by rationality. One cannot rationally lack faith in that which is known through logic, or have faith in anything that cannot be logically identified. Those who attempt to drive a wedge between faith and logic, or faith and knowledge, are up to no good.

Shut the fuck up with that faggot speak. Schools out for summer and all you fedoras come out with your stupid fag words. We get it your smart now go jack off to some big brain YouTube debate video

Yeah and they masqaurade in the regions of mightly intellect

Are you mad people found out it is all a poorly patched together kike LARP, gaslighted golem?

based and rationalpilled.

Religion is in decline because it's somewhat easily falsifiable. Not in the sense of proving it incorrect but proving it's alleged axioms incorrect; plus the whole lack of reproducibility of miracles and, it's indistinguishable from good enough fantasy.

>proving it's alleged axioms incorrect
Well, lets hear it then.

Christfags fuck off. Follow your biological imperative and follow the gods of your pre-Christian ancestors. Universalist death cults are psychologically, spiritually, and physiologically retarded.

>Atheism is the only religion that pretends it's not a religion, user.
Atheism is not a religion but a personal relationship with Athe.

>Universalist death cults
The religions you posted had literal human sacrifices.
