Iran realised what Russia worked out almost a decade ago, the US is not negotiation capable. There are so many would be chefs that any agreement made with one party is nullified by another less than a day later. When no agreements are possible diplomacy is Impossible. When diplomacy is impossible war is inevitable. I think the rest of us living here need to work out that there is no functioning government right quick.
