I’d be dead since I work downtown. My wife and son should be far enough away to survive, and there is enough food in the basement for a few weeks.

If you live through the blast in well enough condition to get out of the fallout zone, you have a couple of hours to get as far away from the impact as you can. Don't stop to help anyone because if you do, you will become a victim as well.

If you have a fallout shelter prepared go there, but I wouldn't go to a public fallout shelter, because after a couple of days you will probably die from the deteriorating conditions there.

Other than that, if you are injured, but not mortally, and can't move, and cant get to fallout shelter, consider suicide. Radiation death is one of the worst deaths there is.

Lots missile silos, military bases, etc. are in rural areas. Those are very high value targets in any nuclear exchange.

That blast is a good 20-30 miles away. Nothing will happen to you from heat or blast. It's also probably an air burst, so not a lot, if any, fallout.

I'd get together with neighborhood guys I trust and try to secure the area.

Grab my pack and my rifle, move inland through the mountains I live at the base of before it becomes too difficult to do so.
