>Be software engineer for Toyota in Texas >$90k a year salary >All the food and drink is free >Fully-kitted out, huge, on-sight gym >On campus pool >Chill out rooms available where you can just game and think >Finish work at 6 >2 hour lunch
Is being a software engineer the best job going at the moment?
I can't think of anything else with the same pay but 9-6pm hours. Bankers regularly work until midnight.
Close friend of mine wants to do computer science at uni aswell. Honest to god I wish I was decent at it cause the job seems quite comfy with good pay and demand for it.
I’m marketing and i want to die after doing a trade show. I hate flying i hate talking to strangers and most of all I hate having to wakeup early. I want to sleep until I am no longer tired is it that hard to ask
Elijah Gray
>works on a laptop as a software eng confirmed faggot
Sebastian Gomez
>90k a year Faggot....... I make six figs working as a software engineering for zip recruiter. How tf are you getting fucked on salary so hard?
Luis Turner
It's never too late to switch.
>I want to sleep until I am no longer tired is it that hard to ask
That's what the weekends are for. I work for a Big 4 and get on average 5 hours of sleep on the weekdays. Yesterday I went to bed at 10pm and woke up today at 10am. That's a solid 12 hours and a good catch up.
Henry Sullivan
I'm basing this on London salaries. What are Silicon Valley, Bay area salaries like for programmers, web developers and software engineers?
William Price
- he's getting outsourced in 6 month /1 year - from his 90k, he's using 70k just to live (and he prays that he don't break anything or get ill) - he lives in texas.
you might have fucked yourself with brexit but at least in one year you'll still have a job...for now
Jeremiah Sanders
Not even. I live in Chicago. It's like this for anyone with at least a Masters and few years of experience under their belt. I used to work for FORD making the apps for their cars. My buddy got me this new gig when he heard me bitching about a raise.
Lucas James
Whoops.
Daniel Nelson
>freelance >165 CHF per hour >netting 17k CHF per month after taxes and fees
Austin Carter
What kind of freelance is that?
Austin Adams
> being around numale faggots all day > enduring meetings and diversity seminars > live in some faggy city, getting assraped by rent and juicero machines > being a glorified web developer, calling yourself a software engineer > working for globohomo on shitty apps nobody needs I can't wait for the tech bubble to pop.
Tech is parasitic, it does nothing but extract value by consuming social capital, turning accumulated generational wealth into a crappy airbn or uber gig.
>adults needing a fence on a bunk bed... This perfectly sums up the absolute state of millenials.
Jonathan Ramirez
New trendy communal living thing. That one looks familiar so I'm pretty sure I've seen it on other news platforms before.
Anyways, its a trending thing on the West coast in particular because of high property values, and wages on the West coast don't really meet housing costs on average, even for people making what is decent money in other places i.e. 70-90k a year (albeit most people would still prefer to live in a studio or have an apartment with a roommate).
Its more popular the lower you are on the wage ladder, of course.
Leo Ross
I tune skis and coach rich racer kids in Aspen 6 months of the year. I make half as much but have twice as much fun. I have no student debt, no kids and can fuck off and mountain bike or surf every day in the summer if I want.
To be honest its probably for liability reasons rather than actual concern for the safety of supposedly retarded millenials.
Justin Green
No cause i make more doing less.
James Turner
software """"engineering"""" is the most subhuman of the jobs, there is a good reason why it was considered woman's job and why now it's full of trannies and other freaks
Jackson Wright
It's all just social engineering so more people get into tech so they can dive wages down
Alexander Walker
omg what a recipe for disaster. 1200$ cant believe that
Evan Sanchez
>tfw underpaid, overworked Big 4 accountant Why the fuck would you go for auditing or accounting at Big 4? You'll get paid more in consulting, M&A or corporate finance.
Sebastian Gray
Recently finished my first year, computer science a pretty great course.
It's definitely a comfy job. But I know it won't last. More and more young people are getting into tech/programming. So the demand is going to drop soon, as supply increases.
Jeremiah Morgan
IT leadership
Jose Adams
itt tech?
Aaron Morales
Imagine wearing a cap inside a building. I hate these faggots.
Isaiah Turner
dunno programming isn't for everyone. Most people just suck at it espacially women who got the job because of gender equality.
Samuel Martinez
the comments are better than i thought they would be
Mason Russell

Wtf it looks like a prison. Ans 1200$/m per person???

> there is a good reason why it was considered woman's job and why now it's full of trannies and other freaks
Not really. Women generally aren't smart enough for it. You probably aren't either. You just made that up while knowing nothing about what you're talking about.
Good programmers will always be hard to come by. The market is saturated at the entry level, but it's generally the same as it always has been at the senior level.
We're in a bubble right now, the next economic recession will also pop the software bubble and it's going to be ugly. If you want to stay in this industry, learn and grow as much as you can and don't fuck around on Jow Forums at work and such.
Levi Wilson
Disgusting. Not the same thing but there are tweo guys at my job who live together in an apartment and their rent is ridiculous, something like £1100 a month and they're always complaining that they have no money. I keep telling them to just move out of the city centre and rent a bigger house for like half of what they're paying now and get a car each.
Julian Lewis
Based and ludditepilled.
Grayson Edwards
test
Asher Stewart
All of this is designed to make you stay at work longer and be hypnotized into developing a false sense of security and belonging at a tedious job as it were a hip lifestyle. Why wouldn't employers just cut all that retarded shit out and just pay their employees more?
Brody Edwards
Bugmen gonna be bugmen
Jason Adams
Tech was supposed to be a tool to multiply the value of useful products and services, but the current tech bubble has generated pointless companies that don't actually provide anything for society. I expect a massive recession within 5 years.
Hudson Robinson
These are demoralization threads. If you are happy with what you are doing and I'm not paying for it with my taxes then you are a fucking american and I salute you. Also if you google it most people are happiest with an income between 75,000 and 100.000.
This is a total lie. What we consider programming has always been predominately autistic men and more so back before higher level languages and tools developed.
Wyatt Peterson
Where do u put the pc for 12 hour wow n wank sessions?
Michael Brooks
Thank you based Frenchman
Zachary Sanders
And this is why you shouldn’t take financial advice from morons on the internet.
Jaxon Morris
There is no such thing as catchup sleep, do your own research.
The sleep you "make up" on the weekend is not enough to counteract the lack of sleep during the week.
Justin Russell
How would a B4 accountant move into this...
Any potential segue or does it involve retraining from day dot.
Samuel Morales
Until they decide to replace you with an H-1B from India
David Ramirez
I don't know. All I dream about now is Debits and Credits while looking at the transactions guys living it up with envy. I only work until 7 though. The transactions and M&A teams work until midnight some days.
Josiah Powell
Hope it lasts until I finish my course
Nicholas Jones
all of this is bullshit. texas has no income tax and low col.
Jose Williams
so what do you do when you need to fap?
Asher Jenkins
I hate the term 'Tech', it usually just means basedftware.
Christian Morales
Because it's cheaper to put in a Xbone and a couple of TVs than pay OP and everyone else a wage more in line with the hours expected of him.
Brayden Diaz
>They are gay Nah they're not gay, they're just best bros. They're in their early 20's so it's still fun living with your friends at that age, when I was that age I lived in a big house with 5 of my friends and it was great.
>what is the traffic like? Traffic isn't the best. With no traffic I could drive into work in about 20-25 mins but it usually takes me maybe just over an hour.
Having extra disposable income and a car is way better than living in the city, especially if you can't even afford to do anything in the city after you've paid your rent.
Liam Taylor
image posting and shitty complete bullshit greentexts get this many replies...
Ethan Thompson
Outsourcing is an old meme - companies have realized pajeets can't do more than desktop support. At this point software eng and cloud services architecture is a license to print money.
Lucas Butler
For real? Translating instructions into another language is a smart thing to do? Is that for people with autism and women because they are able to monotonous work. There is nothing about smart work, architectors why think HOW programmes will be build that smart work in this field/
Connor Long
I would never live with any roommates other than a girlfriend/wife. I wouldn't want to live with friends. That sounds awful.
Christian Powell
It's all true.
Jason Torres
>I expect a massive recession within 5 years. It's necessary, cheap money thrown at them enabled bad habits and terrible ideas to thrive. it's all pointless niggertech. Tech needs to go on a cash diet to get back to what it is meant to do.
David Foster
the truth he won’t tell you is he can’t recruit into m&a. you gotta go to an elite school.
William Foster
dude, same deal as well, in the Northeast the pay is decent but the work life balance is stupid
Oliver Peterson
Why do i have the feeling that i saw this exact thread already several months ago?
Bentley Russell
I work in software for defense industry. Same salary except in NH. It’s a good life for now. I have it better than a lot of other people.
Highly suggest getting an engineering degree at a decent school. Mine was computer engineering
James Hernandez
>he fell for the big 4 accounting meme Back to plebbit with you. t. industry (non-profit) masterrace. If you went to B4 you deserve all the misery you get faggot.
Different strokes for different folks. I'm almost 30 now and I live with my girlfriend and my daughter so I'd never consider living with friends now but I don't see anything wrong with it for younger people. It certainly beats living with strangers if you can't afford your own place.
Henry Jackson
Do you not work midnights in busy season though? I had a couple jobs taking me through to 2am for a couple weeks.
Even out of busy season I’m working til 7.30ish and the odd Saturday.
Adam Collins
Actually Toyota/Honda have more engineers here than any other brand and they rely on “in sourcing” via H1B Visas from pajeets and Asians to replace us rather than outright outsource.
Source worked @ Honda
Hunter Reyes
Find out about cicadian sleeping rhythms - usually if you go to be about 9:30, you'll catch one. They're these 4 hour blocks of sleeping time, and if you miss it, you'll not get into deep sleep until the next one.
Tyler Diaz
It already popped you dumb cunt our salaries haven’t changed since the 90s
Ian Powell
You turned this down why?
Blake Morales
you don't even need a degree either, just prove you know how to code
Joshua Rivera
A distinction ought to be made: translating instructions is not the same as designing the computational logic being performed. Before the advent of modern compilers, higher level languages and tools it was a more difficult job due to hardware restrictions (slower processors, less disk space and RAM...), you had to actually design efficient code and there were not highly optimized compilers to translate higher abstract languages into efficient machine instructions.
Brody King
Note: He didn't have an answer for this. I'd imagine those rooms turn into an all-out fuck fest at some point, could be wrong though.
Andrew Rivera
Software engineers, and engineers in general, are made way better in the US than in Europe. In Europe the highest paid jobs are bankers and lawyers.
Jack Bell
Free food is good though, I hate paying for food.
Michael Torres
No software company in Norway has anything close to something like this. It's all just regular boring office job
Ian Rogers
FREE MARKET XDDDD
Blake Miller
B4 gives you great support for the ACA while industry doesn't give a shit . After training you can always go to industry and earn £££.
Eh, it's not that bad. At the moment I leave at 6pm.
Alexander Carter
> Élite school
Define pls, I was at world top 5 and still ended up in audit...
Are the hours that much worse? Debating the move now qualified.
Benjamin Stewart
Actually funny enough you know that Toyota has done exactly that they trimmed their benefits down in order to increase salary. A defense contractor I used to work at also did similar though much less drastic and salaries didn’t go up so I left
I believe I heard this hopefully op can verify
Cameron Sullivan
Sure, not if you're a code monkey.
Julian Jackson
How does non profit industry pay though?
Jose Cox
Also to elaborate on this: >B4 >make 60K-70K a year >have to live in high COL shithole city >shitty "benefits' >work 200+ hours of overtime (unpaid) a year, reducing yearly salary hourly wage Compared to: >be me >bosses scold me if I work late >best healthcare ever available >5 weeks vacation a year at entry level >live out in the country (cheap COL) and commute 20 minutes to work not in huge shithole city >Make 60K a year too at entry level anyways without the dread hours, no vacation, and high COL bullshit
Jackson Harris
They spend all their money on wages therefore no profit. Non-profit is just another way of saying sneaky and unaccountable.
