Oh lord. Most. Our biggest problem is nation building. We don’t just fight wars. If we went into an enemy nation with the purpose of just war, we would win with few casualties. The politicians just demand we stay. War has changed.
We should be just going in a destroying anything having to do with the enemy regime, and then leaving but we never do that.
Vietnam and Korea were irritating examples of what happens when you mix Politics and War. You get a cowardly half measure. Another example of that is the Russians after Germany was defeated. Eisenhower wanted to take the Russians by surprise, destroy the Russian army and then go and wipe out Communism for good. Politicians prevented that.
Vietnam and Korea were lost because the politicians were terrified China would get involved if we went balls to the wall. We should have turned Hanoi and Pyongyang into balls of smoldering debris and then dared China to do something about it. If we had gone full measure instead of half, communism wouldn’t exist. Thanks, politicians.
