>A father and son who beat and starved a homeless man while keeping him as a 'slave' for two years have been locked behind bars for their "sadistic behaviour".
>Anthony Howard Baker, 49, inflicted violence and intimidation upon his 20-year-old victim and kept him in squalid conditions in a caravan at the scrap yard he ran in Neath, Wales.
>The young man's condition was so bad that when he was eventually released, a nurse described him as looking like a concentration camp victim, reports Wales Online.
>Baker's 19-year-old son, Harvey Baker, also subjected the "vulnerable" victim - who has autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - to repeated and serious assaults during his lengthy ordeal.
>The court heard he was given one meal a day - a tin of soup or baked beans - or fed gone-off food from a bakery.
>He was made to start work at around 6am and clean out the animals at their compound. He would spend the rest of the day collecting scrap metal before cleaning out the animals again in the evening.
>The hearing was told he would sometimes work until 10pm.
>The Baker pair, who live near Jersey Marine pleaded guilty to multiple offences when they appeared in the dock together at Swansea Crown Court in May.
>Anthony Baker pleaded guilty to holding a man in servitude and subjecting him to forced or compulsory labour contrary to the Modern Slavery Act.
>He also admitted four counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of unlawful wounding, and one count of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
>Harvey Baker pleaded guilty to six counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, three of inflicting grievous bodily harm, and one of unlawful wounding.
>All the offences cover the period of October 2016 to January 2019.
>Today Anthony Baker broke down in tears as he was handed a 15-year extended sentence, comprising of 10 years in custody and a five-year licence period.
>He must serve at least two-thirds of the 10 years before he can apply for parole - but it will only be granted if the authorities consider he is no longer a danger.
>Harvey Baker was sentenced to six years in a young offenders institution.

>The victim, who had been living in a YMCA before falling into the clutches of Anthony Baker, was rescued by police.
>They had been called to the isolated compound by a concerned member of the public who had seen the Bakers abusing and manhandling the victim.
>Anthony Baker denied the man was at the yard and drove away but officers found the victim in a corner of the compound.
>The young man was suffering with a catalogue of horrific injuries, including open wounds.
>The hearing heard that he was dirty and malnourished and wearing ill-fitting clothes. He had trouble talking to the officers because of injuries to his jaw.
>John Hipkin, for the prosecution, said the beatings administered by Anthony Baker were "examples of how the enforced labour was enforced".
>He added that after four or five months the physical assaults started and the victim then reported they became “daily”, with the Bakers attacking him “with anything they could get their hands on”.
>The victim was repeatedly punched, bitten, hit with a length of scaffolding pipe, cut with a kitchen knife, had a finger deliberately “snapped”, and had his jaw broken more than once.
>Mr Hipkin said the man had “bruises to all areas of his body” and a nurse with more than 30 years of experience who saw him described him as looking like “somebody who had come out of a concentration camp”.
I'm ok with this. Homeless people should be gassed.
Brayden Gonzalez
>He received skin grafting and spent almost two weeks being treated by medics.
>Experts concluded the man is now likely to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
>Stephen Donnelly, for Anthony Baker, described his client as a “socially inept” man who was “naive and literally ignorant” with few friends who left school at 14 to work in the scrap trade.
>He told the court Baker initially took in the homeless youngster with “good intentions” but that his client was “insufficiently well-equipped” to deal with someone whose vulnerabilities “must have been apparent”.
>Mr Donnelly added there was no explanation for the violence subsequently inflicted.
>Judge Paul Thomas QC said: “It is difficult to believe that the way you treated a highly vulnerable young man could have taken place in the Swansea area in the 21st Century.
>“It would have been appalling if you had treated your animals in the way you treated him, let alone a human being.”
>Addressing Anthony Baker, he said: “You made him your slave. You had him working all hours for you.
>"You kept him hungry and thirsty. He had to live in conditions that were not fit for human habitation. He was not properly clothed.”
>He continued: “You took advantage of his great vulnerability, a vulnerability of nature and circumstance. You forced him to work as an unpaid slave labourer…you subjected him to a regime of immense brutality. It amounted to sadistic behaviour.”

>beggars can't be choosers So cruel, yet so satisfying.

>The judge told both defendants: “I consider you both got a power kick from having someone at your mercy to dominate. You deliberately broke his fingers, bit his nose, treated him as a human punchbag.
>“I have seen the photographs [of the victim] - they are chilling, they are stomach-churning.”
>Anthony Baker was also made the subject of a 20-year slavery and trafficking prevention order.
>The order imposes a range of conditions on the defendant including banning him from employing anyone without first notifying South Wales Police, banning him from organising accommodation for anyone, and banning him from having anyone other than family members living with him.
>He must also allow police officers access to his property at any time to make sure he is complying with the order.
That is retarded, if he was useful he wouldn't be homeless..

>turn into a drug addicted waste like so many unfortunate homeless Usually drugs wreck your job, then your relationships and you become homeless because of that. There's a lot of people sleeping on couches, working ten-hour-a-week jobs right on the edge of homelessness. They are one argument, illness or accident away from the streets.
Now if you're not a drug addict and become homeless, using drugs is hardly ever something that occurs to you, since meals and transport are more important. Using drugs is something comfy people do, wealth and social connections buffer them from the worst consequences.
When poors use drugs, it wrecks them and their lives down to the bone.
Carter Harris
atleast he gave him a job

This is more common than you would think especially in Britain. There are groups of travellers that specifically target the homeless and alcoholics promising them work and accommodation. They bring them to mainland Europe take their passports and beat the shit out of them for few weeks. They are then made to work like dogs tarmacing driveways, repairing roofs and other sorts of jobs.
>He must serve at least two-thirds of the 10 years before he can apply for parole
Six years for beating a slave daily for two years. He should hard labor for life. If anybody wishes to commit a violent crime, do it in Europe, you will get a paid vacation to recuperate until you get out to do your next one.

sounds like they were doing good works, free reform. bunch of people in sf, could use this protocol

This. I actually got told about it by a Romani gypsy a few years before that story broke irl. Apparently it’s more the Irish but that may have been him trying to make his kind look better. He said if they tried to run away it’s quite possible they would get killed. Proper slavery
Logan Davis
And people claim that whites aren't the most savage race.
Ethan Peterson
Whites aren't the most savage race. Indians and Muslims are the premier slavers, they are fucking brutal to their slaves. Whites are the most warlike race, they are the hands-down war champions.
Connor Stewart
I know for a fact that a lot of Irish travellers do it. Most of them would be based either here or the UK but the trick seems to be to get the victim to mainland Europe where they don't speak the language, know anybody or even know where they are half the time. I spoke to an english lad in London who said he "worked" with them for six months around Europe but only got a about a hundred pounds for it. When he started asking about money and his passport they would go crazy. Fuck knows what happened to him over there or how he got away. He seemed very nervous when I was asking him about it, maybe because I was Irish. He didn't really want to talk and I could tell it made him really uncomfortable.
Benjamin Hernandez
Get out of you disgusting nation traitor.
