How much I'd like to disagree with this, i cant. I've always had a thing for combat and strategic warfare. Did a year of regular military service, got offered a contract for interesting stuff after. When my dad (a gentle, family man whose life ambition was to own a house and raise a family) was dying of cancer, my mom got into fights with him and my grandmother, (his mom, a decent woman from the pre-boomer era). One time my mother turned off my dad's oxygen, another time my grandma had to call the police on her because she was abusing him and he was basically defenseless. After my dad died, my mother threw out all his stuff and my grandmother had to dig through the garbage to save what mementos she could. Turns out that he had planned out my next few birthdays in advance and bought presents and left notes. The notes were basically just talking about the presents and why he thought I'd like them. Well my grandma managed to save the notes but not the gifts so all I have are notes talking about presents that he got me that I never saw. Also, I was not allowed to see my grandmother again afterwards for years until my mom realized she needed a babysitter.
