Joblessness claims are also skyrocketing, especially in California and rust belt states.
People never did recover from the 2008 crash, 80% of the country is 1-2 paychecks away from going bankrupt but still take out loans to buy expensive shit they don't need because they want to feel like they're rich.
A lot of the homeless are also mestizo immigrants from various central american countries, and for every one of them that gets a job 5 more live on the streets or on some form of welfare. Tons of them join criminal gangs and deal drugs.

I used to live in Southern Cali, by early 2010's even our wealthy suburb had gotten so dangerous that it was one of the reasons my family ended up moving. Corruption and the state government level is insane, and they keep pushing retarded policies that benefit themselves and hurt everyone else. The middle class, including my family, fled or is fleeing because the taxes are so unfavorable they can't afford to live comfortably anymore without going into debt. The poor and homeless don't flee because they can't afford to, and the ultra-wealthy used to not care about this because they weren't affected by it in their gated communities. But now they're starting to care because the homeless problem has become so overwhelming that the police can't stop them from invading the rich neighborhoods anymore. But they don't want to change the greedy policies that created the homeless problem in the first place, no, they just want the police to do a better job keeping them out of their communites, even though at this point the only way the police can do that is by using military weapons, which would lead to massive riots and paramilitary groups and basically start a mini-civil war localized in California.
