What happens to a generation of young, relatively able-bodied men when they conclude that there is nothing for them to look forward to?
As far as I can tell, in a few years a lot of young guys in Western countries will see two option left: to commit suicide or to become radicalized in some way. In a sense this seems to be happening already with the culture war and everything becoming political. It's a frightening prospect imo.

Just look at lawless london people just don't care about society anymore, somebody can get mugged on a street full of people. But in a way it makes sense because there isn't really a connection to other people now, especially in the uk. Other people are just seen as just other people that you don't know anything about and don't care about, not as "fellow countrymen" anymore.

In my admittedly limited experience, I'm already seeing previously apolitical guys starting to become obsessed with politics, a couple becoming big supports of socialism. I can only sense that it's partly down to how fucked their lives are economically, and they are pretty decent guys it just seems like they've been driven to find some outlet for their anger and frustration and have only found such an outlet on the relatively fringe extremes of the political spectrum.

I've only recently begun to feel this way myself, and it saddens me deeply. I think it's the fundamental reason why we here in Burgerland have $20 trillion plus in national debt- because nobody feels connected to the government or feels ownership of the country anymore. Why wouldn't you run up the debt, get as much out of the country as possible and put as little back in? It's not your country anymore, not really. It's nothing more than a market to maximize your profit from, nothing more.
