Are All Tech Hubs Pozzed?

Right now I am not in a tech job, but would consider it as a back up. However to network it seems like the West Coast is where it is at, but as time goes on it seems more and more pozzed (especially because of SJWs). I like the idea of creating software and systems that change the world, but it seems the whole "open source" mindset is dead in the valley. Are there any areas that don't have SJW cancer? Cyber security seems like the best option in terms of careers, but where would the best place be?

>He fell for the STEM meme

Dude gtfo of there. You don't want to be in tech.

If you're actually good at coding, you'll get to work in a darkened room with a bunch of other white autists and never talk to another soul in the company besides your boss. If you're mediocre, you'll be exposed to the pozz of HR and all the diversity hires they brought in for the mediocre not-really-coding positions.

Don't worry I did not fall for it. I am not in California and instead opted for a business degree, but I feel like to some extent that is as much of a meme (even if I got a minor in marketing as well). I have an ok job, but I am not sure if I will be able to advance and I love programming, but again most the jobs seem either boring, pozzed, or both. Most jobs seem like their are maintaining things instead of building things.

I'm in a fairly senior role in a fairly large software engineering organization that's a multinational. There's more right-leaning folks in tech than you think but they definitely keep their mouths shut about it. Especially in the Valley. New York/DC is quite a bit better, plus DC actually has legal protections for you being conservative at work.

Media companies are extremely pozzed and so are hr departments at pretty much any tech company. Infosec as an industry leans heavily to the right, but infosec twitter is radical lefty. If you want to shut up and get things done you'll be perfectly fine, but if your goal is to network in the industry online, you're going to run into problems.

If you love programming because it's enjoyable to you as a puzzle then keep up with it in your free time for fun. If you move to a tech hub you may make a good salary but the cost of living will be high (and probably the taxes depending on which state - go Austin, TX if you must) and you will not find a good woman in those circles. There is also a good chance you will be working for those you are morally opposed to.

They're not just pozzed, they're replaced.
50%+ of your coworkers will be from India or China. Mostly India.

>There is also a good chance you will be working for those you are morally opposed to.
CEO literally sent out emails reminding us that Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade due to mental illness and totally weren't whacked or anything.
He also sent out an email after the Charlottesville rally saying that white supremacism was the greatest danger affecting the United States.

>Aims to be a software developer
>Looks at the typical sanfran basedgoi that probably hasn't gone beyond Node.js and Python as a reference
There are mentally-ill progressives in any cushy non-trade job. That includes tech.
But as far as desk jobs go, you'll find a relatively higher ratio of conservatives in tech, they just won't broadcast it to everyone. The SJW's you're wary of are rarely actually any good at software development.

Only shit companies outsource development at a low cost, only to pay it back in wrangling technical debt.

where is that one chart tracking amount of gov money towards sillycon valley?

Tech sucks.

uncle Ted was right
all tech must be destroyed

>pozzed

He used it just fine.

Depends what you mean here. If you want to be a pentester, that is a shitty career as you are competing with a bunch of pajeets and retards who watched Mr Robot badly use tools like Nessus (we even call them nessus monkeys) for relatively poor pay.

Best paid in security tend to be people with really solid understanding of networks and systems architecture. A lot of them usually worked as developers for a number of years before entering into security specifically. It depends on your aptitude and your background.

tfw u graduated in comp sci a year ago and ur still unemployed because u never applied urself because u live with mom and have no motivation

I have thought about Austin, but like many tech hubs, it seems like a lot of the jobs require 5+ years of experience+ X, Y , and Z. I will admit I am not the best, but I do have about 10 or so projects on Github. I wanted to go into MIS but the program at my university was broken so I decided on business. I know Python and I am working on learning Java. It seems like cyber security might be easy to get into and someone interesting, as you are being a bit creative. Also that is the other thing. It seems like all the jobs are for making software for a water pump, instead of creating software that creates new institutions and encourages new ideas, but it seems like at this point that mega corp. is in it for the money, not innovation.

I have been working on some cyber security software in my spare time, and I like the idea of reverse engineering malware and getting into the guts of software. One area (although I am not limited to it) I like would be browser technology, which has lead me to look into the inner workings of how various browser render things. I might mess around with the inner working in future projects, but as of right now I work 40+ hours a week, but not sure if the industry I am in is what I want the rest of my life, especially since it is just a contract. I may stay with it, but I do want to create and not just make money.

You don't have to go to the west coast for IT. I lived in a nice suburb north of Dallas called Frisco 3yrs ago and it was a huge IT hub. Texas is really cheap too. Nevertheless the h1b shit is not a meme. There were a ton of Indians just to the south in plano and you know exactly what they did for a living. I mean if you really enjoy it then go for it but the pay is nowhere near as good as it was in the late 80s early 90s and you do have a real chance of having an Indian take your job.

Government tech jobs aren't pozzed, but corporate tech jobs are.
t. software engineer

Interesting. NY is kind of surprising. Also interesting on DC. It does seem to have a lot of work and I have wonder if govbucks would make it worth it vs cost of living.

Also I have thought of doing a commute between some place like NY and NH, but the commute might not be worth it. I will look into this. Thanks.

>Right now I am not in a tech job, but would consider it as a back up.
So right now you're, what? A janitor? And you would consider a 200K/yr job in SF? One day you're just gonna pack up your broom and march into Google and get a job?

I started at a tech job in San Francisco. Got annoyed by all the SJWs and homeless and literal shit on the sidewalk and getting 40% of my money stolen by socialist jew government. Couldn’t buy the guns or knives I wanted. I told my cucked boss that I was moving to Texas whether he liked it or not, and that i would quit if he didn’t let me work remotely. Now in Austin we have over 50 people in our office and it is continuing to grow. I can build AR pistols, walk into a gun store and walk out with my gun, I can carry an out the front switch blade. There are still faggots and trannys here but not as many. The niggers here are more well behaved and can actually read and write English which is a plus. Gas is 40% cheaper. Rent is 70% cheaper. I have a garage. Don’t go to the west coast, it’s a disaster.

> IT
The fact that you called it IT shows you haven’t a clue what this industry is like. Apes can run IT. The real cheese is in enterprise services, software engineering, sales engineering. No one wants to help faggots with their computers which is basically all IT is. IT is not a catch all term for tech jobs. It’s literally a dead end job and if you’re IT and not running automation with puppet or chef you should really start looking to switch industries.

That’s enough to get 120k software engineer job in Austin. Seriously, they hire people with zero experience and entry level engineering roles are six figures.

Well it pays $20+ an hour just out of college, I just don't want to get stuck in it, and I am worried I will be stuck in a customer facing role. I originally came from bumfuck no where to get this job so I don't want to complain, especially considering unemployment in said area I lived in before is high, I just don't want to be stuck in an entry level job, especially a contract one. I would say the best way to describe it would be financial services, but it is no Wall St. .

Interesting. The only library I have really delved into would be Selenium and BeautifulSoup. I do want to learn some AI frameworks and maybe smart contract stuff, but again I don't want to spread myself too thin in terms of learning.

No, that's right. In this context it means infected with AIDS cum

If you aim to work at a multinational software company, be prepared to receive diversity related emails. Especially diversity training.

If you work on wall street in NYC every one is right wing it's insane. Most are Catholics too

>they hire people with zero experience and entry level engineering roles are six figures
No, they don't.

The market is flooded with graduates, people changing careers, foreign workers and outsourcing companies.

You aren't going to 'just get' a six figure job by having minimal experience. You can definitely call that kind of money with 3-4 years with an in-demand toolset with relevant training and qualifications (AWS certs, degrees, etc).

do you recommend the industry for a novice in 2019? or is it a meme in terms of earning potential and start ups are your only real way out of (((rat))) race ?

what do you do with your business degree and how much do you make ?

also how much less would you take to do the projects you love for work ?

Everything trendy and in california is absolutely infested with lefty shit in murka

You have to go back seriously unless you were born here go the fuck back

As I mentioned I make a little over 20 an hour and do back office stuff for a bank. Not too glamorous but pays the bills. And good question. I am still working on projects I like but don't get paid for them, so enough to live. Also I have interacted with some of the people from tech companies and many of them seem to be in it for the money if I am honest and not in it to create the next big thing, not that there is anything wrong with money, but that was part of the precipice for my question along with wanting to be where the innovation is.

I also might add on the pay, maybe enough to save enough to put a bit of money aside, but I would in theory be ok with a middle of the road pay if it meant me working on something I like.
