There are a few ways that could work if just a small group of people across the world worked together.
You would need at least 1 person in the team with access to a highly deadly substance or at least the ingredients of said substance.
One of the easiest ways would definitely be Botulin toxin. The formula is tightly kept by the US government, however.
The force of explosions is relatively weak even if you used all those bombs that are said to be able to blow up the entire planet multiple times if they were all launched. Would require resources that only a rich country has. On top of that, aside from the US there are hardly any countries whose missiles hit all around the globe.
You can make the life of humans easily miserable by spreading diseases via gen-manipulated mosquitos and all sorts of other biological weapons.
But not nearly enough to wipe out a good number of people.
There are way too many people that think only of how to make the world a better place for everyone. And even more of those that want others to continue living just to have a larger working force that can be used to live a better life themselves.
People are retarded and can't math. India, China and Brazil are the overpopulated countries. Africa isn't overpopulated per se, neither is Latin America, Asia or the Middle East.
Yet in none of the places I mentioned you will find clean water or clean air. People are fleeing these areas because they are littered with garbage (Asia, India), their resources are literally burned to the ground every day (Africa, Middle East) and the climate makes the space slowly uninhabitable (All of the mentioned).
People will flee to the north, litter up, shit up and garbage up these areas until they look just like the countries before them. And it continues until nothing is left.
