Inside is empty. The rock that is mentioned is called "Hajer ul Aswad" which literally translates to "Black Stone". It is located at the corner and indicates the starting point of the cycles. According to my religious education it has been brought by Adam from heaven. It was not originally black but it got black due to sins of people on Earth. It is not a cube it's egg-shaped and in fact the whole stone is not in Kaaba.
