food in urban areas are much more expensive than food in rural Canada because of the cost of property per square foot; grocery stores are having to rent/buy property at crazy high rates and try to make some of their money back by raising the price of food. Are you in Ontario? I hear the fine for "riding dirty" (aka without insurance) is $10,000 for a first offense, doubling after each fine. Then if you get a ticket for driving insurance less, you can't be insured by normal insurance companies, it's considered worse than mass gang rape/murder, so you have to go to "facility insurance", where you have to pay $2000+/month for the privilege of driving insured having been fined for driving insurance-less.
