We actually still import some oil, but we net export due to LNG being massive exports. If manufacturing was still done in the US instead of chinkistan you'd have durable goods that last and people with good jobs making them
As is we export foodstuffs and a lot of raw material that then gets turned into finish products and that doesn't need to be the case.
