There's plenty. Most of the Western separatism comes from Alberta, the Texas of Canada. We generate most of the revenue thanks to oil, and end up paying for all the other provinces to shit on us through the transfer payment system.

Alberta shoulders the greatest burden because they can, it's literally as simple as that.
They *shouldn't* be giving that much money to Quebec though.
That aside since Ontario's finally going back into the black again we're probably going to have to start paying up too, which means Alberta should be paying less.

Equalization is meant to be a fair distribution of wealth across provinces so no one provinces drowns, we're not separate states paying for each other we're one country filling in the gaps. My point here is that the reason why equalization is an issue in the first place for anyone is because of separatism and us having a government that lets the provinces run wild.

Equalization isn’t the only payment transfer mechanic between provinces, but it’s the most obvious one.
