It's not as bad as you all think here. Yeah we have our problems, and by God don't raise children here, but our transport infrastructure is very good & there's a lot to do most of the time regardless of what you're into. Stay away from shit areas and you'll be fine - just like every other city.

I visited my sister and law and her husband in Kensington in April and my experience was similar to yours. There were so many French people living around there too. Not a bad area but you have to make mega money to afford it. I make good money in the northeast US but I felt like a fucking pauper in West London.

Its a bit too expensive and too crowded. Unless you're rich, you're going to be living alongside shitskins. There are too many literal no-go areas where it's over 90% non-white. There are so many coal burners and trashy tattoed girls that it's demoralising. Also, drugs and drug dealers everywhere.
Other than that, London can can be fun. I studied there but I prefer Edinburgh.
