90% of all plastic waste comes from China and Africa. 70% from china, 20% from The Nile and Niger river's in Africa

It's a huge fucking problem that white people are going to have to correct. Recyclable paper and foil packaging and trying to cleanup the plastic waste is the only way to go.

Had to read about this problem for a sustainability course in my university's chemical engineering program. While it is factual that Asia and Africa are responsible for most of the plastic waste in the ocean, it's not simply because they're being completely reckless about it.
Many western countries have to follow guidelines based on how they handle their plastic/electronic waste. By law large firms are not permitted to just dump large quantities of waste. However, it is legal for companies in the US and other western EU countries to sell their waste to brokers, who then ship it overseas to poorer countries which will 'recycle' them. But because they lack proper waste standards, lack of enforcement, improper facilities etc. the waste usually just gets dumped or burned after it has been stripped of valuable metals and other worthwhile components.
>TLDR: The waste doesn't actually originate from these places, it gets shipped there from overseas by people avoiding waste regulations.

Read up about the Basel Convention. The Basel convention is an international treaty which prevents developed countries from dumping waste on poor countries. The US is the only industrialized country in the world to ratify it.
