Well after the June and July debates, the threshold for the September debates will be raised to the point where candidate will both have to achieve a unique donor count of 130,000 with at least 400 donors from 20 states and to get at least 2% support from four national polls. The bump in criteria will naturally force a significant amount of them out of the race.

I think each candidate get 30 seconds each on every subject and 15 seconds worth for potential rebukes. No opening statements, but they all will get closing statements. In short, this will effectively be the first time the US adopted the twitter format for their debates.
