Most of the world's ice isn't just floating on the ocean.

Retards eternally BTFO!

Attached: 1553636952513.png (705x699, 441K)

watch them say it has something to do with the curvature of the earth. GLOBETARDS. THE HORIZON IS CURVED BECAUSE OUR EYES ARE ROUND. THERE IS NO PROOF THE EARTH IS ROUND.

Retards. Most of the ice is on top of rock, so if it melts it flows into the sea

delet this

Yea its fresh water on a continent, explain that one.

Most of the world's glacial ice is found in Antarctica and Greenland.

it is in winter

ice(((berg)))

I mean how did a continent sized piece of fresh water freeze like that.

Ice age got very cold and froze a ton of water when there was great lakes there.

Snow fall over mainland Antartica is up because it's getting warm enough.

Little known fact, when it's to cold, it doesnt snow.

Attached: 1erdp5.jpg (480x360, 50K)

A-are you okay user?

Theres more ice there than just grate lake volumes.
Just look at canada when its many grate lakes freeze.

Thank you for this user, it has opened my eyes and my friends here. I'm going to get as many people here to read this. WTF, why would they keep this from me. I feel absolutely gutted

Yes, you just said my point back to yourself. Great lakes freeze during climate cold snaps, and thus we get glaciers on land.

Yeah the ice is heavy and presses the continent down...if it melts the weight will be gone and the land can " rebound" and spring back like a couch cushion which will keep water levels the same.

>American education
The ice isn't heavy enough to weigh down a continent.

My point been if that was the case, Canada would look just like Antarctica when the ice freezes, it dosn't it looks just like a bunch of frozen lakes.

Whats at the south pole is somthing very diffrent. It a mountainus continent completely under huge fresh water ice sheets.

Also Ice that is touching the sea floor (which is a lot of the antarctic and glaciers) doesn't displace water and thus will add to the overall water levels of the oceans.

water level goes down, ice is denser then water

i meant the other way around

dont worry jew the only way youre going is in

Attached: 1559140804683.jpg (400x400, 24K)

I don't think this represents the ice on Antarctica properly, but that's just my masters degree in glaciology speaking
My bachelor in geology however tells me manmade global warming is a fraud anyways, so who gives a shit.
>tfw a volcano spews out more greenhouse shit in a day than humans do in a year if they try really hard
excaggeration, but you get the point

Here it stays the same level as ice still displaces the same amount of water as the amount of water frozen in it.

Sit the fuck down Bong because you don't know what you're talking about. I live in a place which was recently completely glaciated (S. Alaska) and the land is rising much faster than sea level. It's called isostatic rebound. And yes, ice is weighing down the entire continent of Antarctica.

Alright, I will listen. So, we have these few areas of land like antarctica and alaska that are weighed down with ice, these areas will spring back up and be at the same sea level as they were before.

Now what about all the water that is now added back into the oceans, raising it, and how will that affect the areas of land that aren't affected by isostatic rebound? Those areas will still be flooded and you areas may still get flooding from the sheer volume of water now in the ocean.

Alaska bro, when the great lakes freeze there, is it anything like the Antarctic ice sheet or just some frozen lake?

Witness what the Department of Education has done to this person.

>Reply
These iceberg trolls are amusing, but they're "fire can't melt steel beams" level of ignorance.

Climate changes. It has since the planet formed one.

Do we effect it? Of course we do.

How much? Nobody knows.

But keep thinking you're "red pilling" from an intelligent basis of fact. I guess babby's first shitpost has to happen at some point, I just wish you'd do it in /b.

Just put an icepick into your eye and press hard, you GREAT illiterate faggot.

This is the dumbest fucking post I've read

>excaggeration
Should have paid more attention in English class, dummy. Two degrees (allegedly) and you can't operate a spell check.

>but they're "fire can't melt steel beams"

I think that theory is jet fule cannot achieve thr temperature needed to melt steal beams as seen at the site, and another agent must have caused the temperature to rise high enouth to do so.

rekt

Yes, low-lying areas would be flooded if the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets melted, but that's going to take thousands of years if it ever happens because right now, only the seawater-calving glaciers are melting and losing ice, not the ice sheets.

A really large frozen lake covered in snow looks sort of like an icsheet, yeah. Alaska is covered in actual ice sheets up in the mountains though such as the Juneau Icefield which looks a lot like Antarctica.

Attached: A72I9949-Opila.jpg (1500x844, 368K)

Indeed, but the thing i don't get is how that much fresh water was on the continent to cause an ice sheet that large.

No, my point is that the towers came down without the steel beams "melting", the entire premise of that ignorant "debate" is flawed.

And, you're a fucking retard, you post the same retarded shit in every fucking thread, every fucking day. You're no Brit, either, because you type in American vernacular. Just shut the fuck up.

There's a lot you don't get, dummy, and you prove it every fucking thread, all day and all night.

Dam that looks like some tough living
>Juneau Icefield which looks a lot like Antarctica.

Cheers ill look into the area.

Thanks for using my analogy.. I mentioned this in that other thread.

"Global Warming" back when it was a legit cause for concern with that supposed hole in the ozone layer, had more than one issue pushing the agenda.
Some of the major concerns were skin cancer, higher temperatures/hotter summers, increased energy consumption, environmental effects on fauna and certain species, drought...

It's so bullshit nowadays, all those problems they used to talk about are now just one: "Boo-hoo, the polar ice caps are melting."
So fucking what.

Looks melted to me.

And If your not going to constructively contribute be quite.

Oh, look, the ignorance on the anti-climate change shows up, thinking he has a point.

Dummy, the change in global temps that would melt the ice caps wouldn't be a local issue to the poles, it would drastically change the climate overall - like for farm seasons.

Granted, the 'world is ending" scenario isn't exactly happening, and has more to do with funding and governmental scams like carbon credits, but thinking the poles melting wouldn't impact the entirety of humanity, and dismissing it as "so what" is flabbergasting in the depth of ignorance that mindset displays.

prove it

Learn to spell, you cocksucking faggot. Then shut the fuck up, your sperm breath is stinking up the joint.

Their argument concerns the Antarctic sheet, not the Arctic one.

They told me I was going to die in 10 years from global warming 10 years ago. Now it's called climate change. The vast majority of people claiming this are not scientists but rather are homosexuals and jews in the media and retards at random protests.

this faggot has been posting climate change slide threads for a bit now

Its been slide threads since the google hearing and boomer from thedonald came over.

Just use the catalog.

I never said I buy into climate catastrophism I used to make threads debunking it years ago. With that said, the OP is completely braindead and got destroyed by that post.

Shut your dumb ass up

Attached: 87956.jpg (640x424, 71K)

No, he didn't. Most of the propaganda being concocted isn't using land based ice as a major concern. They're all using glaciers and chunks of ice already submerged in the water

>Being this assblasted, and this wrong

Your analogy and the picture of the experiment is flawed because they do not take into account that sea water (high salt content) is more dense than freshwater. The dense sea water allows the freshwater ice caps to float higher than it would on freshwater, causing a smaller amount of displacement, so when that water melts, it causes the total level to raise. Not to mention that there is a lot of ice on land that is not currently contributing to water displacement.

Iceberg, I thought he said “a weisburg”!

The energy required to freeze 1kg of water is equivalent to the energy required to heat 1kg of water to 80°C. Water freezes and melts by taking in or giving off energy from the environment, with the temperature always staying at the melting point until the phase change is complete. Melting ice is therefore a heat sink in summer and freezing water a heat source in winter. This stabilizes the climate.

Once all the sea ice is gone, that stabilization effect is gone. Seas will have nowhere to dump excess heat except into rising temperatures.

>Seas will have nowhere to dump excess heat except into rising temperatures.

BS, the oceans are so vast and deep, the rising temperatures barely effect the deeper regions of the oceans.

now simulate glaciers that are on land by placing ice cubes in a funnel above the measuring cup.

What an utterly irrelevant objection. Congratulations.

then why would 30 percent of respondents in Tel Aviv claim to be gay or bisexual

Perhaps: if the black community is more religious why does it report more homosexuality?

I'll cut to the chase: don't accept or learn to tolerate totalitarianism when it is wearing the cloak of globalism just because you believe you once heard someone prophecy it.

We're not talking about the icebergs but the permafrost, the ice on lands like Antartica or Groenland.

how is "freezing water a heat source in winter"

Im a little up to speed with the idea that ice can be an insulator and possibly (due to its white color) reflect heat back into the air atmosphere questionably making the air slightly warmer than if the snow were to simply absorb the light.

In many models they argue that the snow is "keeping the planet cooler" by reflecting the sunlight which would be absorbed by the sea.

Im not sure what the ratio of cloud formation/ verus/ hours of sunlight on the pole in white or water conditions would say about the relative effect of the sunlight being reflected by the snow or absorbed by the ocean.

>Temperature of water changes
>It goes apeshit because it's not a simple cup and it's instead a complex system of several variables.

ICE
>BERG

By the other way around, you mean water is more dense than ice, right? Hence why it floats. Floating objects displace an amount of water equal to their weight. For floating ice, the only rise would be attributable to freshwater being less dense (having a greater volume) than saltwater.

The problem doesn't come from independently floating ice, and this is pretty disingenuous. Ice sheets that happen to not be entirely over land still are not floating, so they displace less water than if they were to break off and actually be floating. The next problem comes when ice sheets over land begin to melt or break off and slide into the ocean.

If you are going to pretend sea level has not risen or fallen in the past and is not capable of rising and falling now, then you are massively retarded and should kill yourself.

>forgets how most ice in antarctica and canada is on dry land.

If you have liquid water at 0°C, it will give off some heat while transitioning to ice. In other words, if you were to withdraw energy that would normally drop water temperatures by say 10°C, the actual temperature drop would be much lower when there's a water-ice transition involved.

This is the correct explanation

Attached: 1559275830242.jpg (490x427, 72K)

Ice has less density than liquid water by a lot, so that graphic is meant to mislead.

>glow in the dark

>I mean how did a continent sized piece of fresh water freeze like that.
It's a 2 mile thick lake in the Arctic? It doesn't get above freezing here very often.

>This is the correct explanation
Close, but not so. The part about floating higher and displacing less water because of it is incorrect.

>As the ice melts the island floats up.
We're not Guam.

That's not the worry idjit

The weight of the ice sheet causes compression. Remove the ice sheet and the island will rise.

>the island will rise.
Ok.

In other news. Scientists here don't even think there is land below the sheet. They've also discovered a huge underground freshwater resevior under the Atlantic ocean.

We aren't melting, you retards

How much water is trapped in inland ice?

>when it's too cold, it doesn't snow
W-what

Anything below -42, it's to dry to snow.

Lived in Alaksa for 4 years. After -30 all humidity turns into ice fog.

>Anything below -42, it's to dry to snow.
We get blizzards in the -50s. Complete whiteout conditions, shelter in place no movement allowed. Surface temperature is just one of many factors for snow.
