every man has the right to enforce law on people who break the law, as every man has the right and responsibility to safeguard his own community. and every man is the military / militia. so yes I agree. our definitions are just different. the twitter twat probably thinks law enforcement and military should be exclusively statist and not self-regulating autonomous communal aspects of a society, I believe the latter as I am all for self-responsibility. Law enforcement are not under any obligation to protect you. Somebody find that court case that determined police do not have to do anything for you if they are under any risk to themselves. They just have to enforce the law, so if you're getting murdered they can just watch the guy, and then arrest him after if they feel safe enough to do so. That's why you see so many "peace officers" these days, I do not respect their authority.
And while the military has an obligation to protect you, military already is not allowed to carry weapons. Only MP's have weapons on post. Everyone else only uses them when training, qualifying, or deployed. For soldiers in the barracks, they can't even keep them in their rooms.
But even if all that were untrue, and both of those groups had weapons, why would you want that? Why do you trust the government, and the regular joes working for them, to carry weapons around you on a regular basis? And what's to stop people from joining them just for the then ""privilege"" of having a cool gun? Why would you cheapen the force like that? If most people were armed the world would be safer. I know that makes no sense to you lefties cause "more guns means more violence". Right, imagine you had a gun, and some other guy on the street had a gun, and most passers by had a gun, are both of you prepared to die today? Is that what you want? No? Then you probably will never use that thing. It's like the karate kid, training not to fight. You're carrying so you don't have to use it. But now imagine where that other guy has a gun, but you don't. And neither does anyone else around you. You look at him wrong, and he's having a bad day, BAM! You're dead. He's gone. Sans consequences. And he's free to do it as much as he likes, cause who's gonna stop him?
