How do you counter the argument that people would stop working if UBI became real?

You don't. They would. Not everyone, especially if the amount is low, but the number who would stop working will be greater than if you didn't have UBI.

Because UBI is nice, but people will constantly want more money. And will likely need more money to fuel their wants and desires. That and humans have a natural drive to accomplish things.

The idea is, that it doesn't matter. Some based people will realize that they can move in a shed in Nevada or Texas and come by 1000 bux, no healthcare, no car, but rice and playstation vidya all day
The idea is, that those who realize this will not first resort to crime if they have the option to get a grand a month
The idea is, that you want more than grey shirts, grey slime for food and a grey house
You remove the suffering at the lowest 10%
Basically you should remove most of the homeless with this

No one would stop working just to have $1000 a month, when they could work a job and have many times that.

Proof? People could stop working 40 hours a week right now, and work 10 hours a week and get $1000. Yet, nobody does.

If they won't work 10 hours a week for $1000 when they could earn more, why the hell would they work 0 hours a week for $1000 when they could earn more?

UBI will increase inflation at a rate in which it will soon not provide food and shelter
