Well, they don't come just from ancient greeks, not even close. All balkans have ancient greek admixture, they have the most. Slavs also settled all over greece and so did the other balkan populations before. I think the language is the determining factor when it comes to deciding if you're say bulgarian or greek, at least in the border region.
