No, it doesn't otherwise women would never go bald. Baldness is caused by your immune system reacting poorly to DHT (test decays into that). The amount of test or DHT in your system in no way affects your body's IS response - your genes either make you go bald or not.

Isn't testing for SHBG generally done more so for symptoms of low testosterone or when at test for total testosterone comes out normal but they still have symptoms of low test? Generally when your SHBG is too low or too high it's often a sign of something being really wrong, not really something that is common

No, neither is minoxidil (aka Rogaine trade name). Propecia is more effective than minoxidil foam. There is the more effective minoxidil liquid that's applied by stroking the output of the dropper nozzle against the scalp, but many men like the foam because it also has styling mousse in it. With the foam, a lot of the ingredient is wasted on the hair shaft itself rather than on the root follicle area.

Minoxidil is best used as a delaying tactic before the hair follicle shrinks and becomes shallower and shallower in the skin. I've used it for decades with Rogaine in the early 90's and generic minoxidil thereafter. You guys are fortunate costwise since Rogaine was pretty expensive when it first came out.

While my hair is now thin and you can sort of see the scalp through the forest of thinning and fewer hairs, I am far from bald on top like my younger brother who has the classic bald stripe down the whole middle of his head. Minoxidil isn't really a regrowth miracle that creates new hair follicles when they have died off. It just keeps what you have alive longer because the subcutaneous skin layer where the blood vessels are has not shrunk in thickness so much that it causes the follicle to die.

The 5% formula for Minoxidil generic foam is cheap and available at Sam's Club and Costco. Applying too much has no better effect and it is far better to apply it twice per day to areas that need it. Skin oils and sweat carry it off, so applying a lot more is less effective than applying it on schedule to keep it on the scalp long enough to affect the subcutaneous layer to keep it thick enough to support longer follicles.

high SHBG is uncommon, but seen in men with symptoms of low T so, yes -they test for it. Low SHGB usually doesn't have negative effects, unless it way too low. When I roided, I used certain PEDS that would specifically lower my SHGB -it works.

I used HCG intra-cycle with either Arimidex or Aromasin (prefer the latter) and Clomide and Nolva as PCT along with HCG double dose.
