Tourism has absolutely bombed in Egypt over the past decade.

Every Westerner man who goes there gets swarmed by ten merchants competing for few tourists, and many of them are scammers. God help you if you're a white woman, Egyptian men will encircle them in rabid, uncontrollable mobs that can and will rape if they're able.

I have been to Egypt twice. I've been to the Sinai, gone up to St Catherine's Monastery, seen Sharm and camel trekked etc. I've also been to Luxor and the lower reaches.

The problem with Egypt is that you have so many fucking irritating, obnoxious beggars that I don't ever want to go back. I also can't bring women to the country because Egyptians are the most lecherous, perverted people on Earth. You make Poos seem like upstanding chivalric gentlemen by comparison. I visited your country in 2016, user. I went from Israel - Taba - Sharm - Cairo. I can tell you that Egypt is not for the non-package tourist. You're right, it's teeming with Russians in Sinai, they're all over Dahab diving there, but inexperienced travellers from Europe find themselves in a world of hurt. The traffic jams, bad air, bad road culture, touts and constant Jeweing are the very opposite of what a white man is used to. I had a great time, but really wasn't prepared for everything. It's definitely nice, but not for casuals.

It’s cheap as fuck, seriously. Local beer (Stella or Sakara) is like $1.50 for a pint. Local liquor is also cheap but kinda weak. If you’re a big drinker stay in a resort with full board, so you get a open buffet+bar included.

In Israel it's not uncommon to be charged on your cellphone for random things, and nearly impossible to get those charges refunded. Middle East needs to be purged. Like every last sand person, just killed where they stand. There is no hope for those people.

Well, I've been to Israel more than Egypt and have not been overcharged for anything. International data is shit everywhere, user. If you don't buy a local SIM, don't turn on data, ever. Israel is just expensive for everyone, including it's citizens. From a tourists perspective, I was Jewed way more in Egypt by money starved touts. The main issue is that the vast majority of English speakers are in the tourist industry and literally want to sell you a carpet, camel ride or perfume. For 400% the price for that of a local. I don't even blame them that much, their day feeds a year, it's sad, but hey, it's home.

My suggestion would be to find a local guide what will ward off the other touts. If the others see one of their own has a customer, they will respect their privacy. The tout you hire, make sure you negotiate a price before and expect to tip him as well, not much more, but there has to be a tip as well. Make sure to mention that you don't want to visit any shops or something like that, he 100% has shops which he gets commission. I think this will make your trip a lot more bearable in terms of street harassment. Oh and I hope you don't have attractive sisters, lmao. Hijab it up! I went in October and it was a little rough, but the heat did not bother me.
