Actually, they are very accurate about this. They are talking more than just money, but also quality of living. I can personally vouch for what they are saying, because my neighbors kids, both parents working, were fucking degenerates, and their parents were soooo fucking snotty because they thought "WE'RE RICH!" that they did cultural appropriation (super fucking annoying). The cheapest handgun I can buy right now at a major retail store (Cabelas) is a .38 semi automatic centerfire pistol, €177. Rifle, 9TS Carbine, €250. Shotgun, Hatfield Semiautomatic, €222. Heritage Rough Riders revolver, €160. I think I get the better deal IMO, no license no permits none of that, and I can conceal carry anywhere.
