I live near San Francisco and have been there many times. Even years ago you could not walk down the street without being accosted by a psychotic homeless person. You would have to be insane to ever want to live in that city.

I lived there for 2+ years. it's a literal shit show, shit hole, and only primed for opportunists.

It was actually a great city until the turn of the millennium. Even with all the gays they were mostly friendly and well kempt. But the internet millionaires have made the city unlivable for most people and therefore caused a mass contagion of homelessness drug addiction and every societal malady can possibly think of.

Millionaires didn't cause the homeless to flock there, the City Council did, declaring it a "sanctuary city", and doing idiotic shit like handing out free syringes and shopping carts, and even paying them an allowance, for a while. And forbidding the cops from doing their jobs.

The Facebook millionaires are a plague, but they didn't cause the shit filled streets - liberals on the City Council did.

Some of the suburbs immediately outside of San Francisco (Sausalito, Marin, etc.) are really great, at least from the little time I’ve spent there. The city itself is a literal shithole.

I lived on the Presidio in the early 80s, when it was still an Army base. It was beautiful and well kept...a great place to be a kid.

I drove there with some hippie who wouldn't lay off the pot. He ended up getting caught by the DEA and had to burn his pot field. I helped him do it, felt bad burning up all that devil's lettuce. I got shafted by some asshole after beating him in a race, and the garage ended up getting shitty.

Eventually found my way to the desert, and some rapper jumped off a hotel roof. I couldn't get to the truck in time, so he died. Now here I am, free to roam and no advancement in my story.

Having lived in SF for a couple of decades, let me tell that currently the stories you hear are if anything understated. Hell the police fudge crime statistics by only generally only responding if someone is injured, in few hours, maybe.... And then not recording the incident because "There's no chance we can catch the guy who mugged you since he has a 12 hour headstart."

Further every fucking mayor and city council member for 20 years has campaigned on reducing the homelessness problem, and every single year it has gotten worse. Why? Simple, by intentionally making it worse, they guarantee their own reelection because they are proven to care for the homeless, and are proven to try stopping it. Its a scam, and anyone with half a brain knows it.

Wife and I went for vacation 5-6 years ago. We went and visited her brother in Yuba City, then San Fran for a few days. We stated right on the outskirts of China Town. No bums there and a really nice French restaurant across the street.

When we went down town for a little shopping that is when the bums made themselves known. I grew up in a midsized midwestern city (aprox 250k population) so I was not stranger to bums, but these SF bums were different. They were aggressive. We were in line for the trolley and this toofless nigga was going person to person begging acting really aggressive. There was another nigger that was pretending to be a trolley worker giving "information" about stops and such, and when he would finish his little memorized info statement he would ask for money saying, "I don't work fo free now."

We rented a car and drove down, it was $50 per night to park it. Drove across the golden gate bridge got a $50 charge from the car rental place in the mail a few weeks later.

Alcatraz was pretty cool, a lot of great places to eat around the city. One thing I noticed was I didn't see a regular ol' coffee shop anywhere, it was all Starbucks.

Oh another thing I found strange was when my wife bought some clothes they asked me if we wanted a bag...I was kinda confused and said, well yea we had a few articles of clothing a pair of shoes...then I saw they charged me for the bag!

All in all it wasn't nearly as bad as what people say, but that was 5 or 6 years ago, I hear it's only gotten worse since then and we didn't go to Oakland or anyplace that wasn't a "touristy" spot.

I'm 19 born and raised in SF. As long as you stay away from downtown and the projects and the mission district, you will have a good time.

Weather. You can live outside 24/7/365 on the Cali Coast. The entire west coast a whole is filled with homeless because they allow and encourage it with the Gibs + no criminal action.

Most fun city in the USA.
