All the people who are saying to invade Britain before taking on the USSR need to look at the real Operation Sealion and the failure that was written all over it. Hitler, or at least the General Staff, would have loved to do that. They couldn't. The Kriegsmarine wasn't up to the task of securing the channel against the strongest navy in the world effectively enough to transport a large enough force across it. Simple as. Even if they'd managed to capture most of the French Navy that was in port intact it would've been nearly impossible.
