I'm not sure. I have southern Italian in me. But there is evidence to suggest we have lingering DNA from other past conquerors over the area.
The race to be 'white' means nothing these days anyway when you notice that lots of groups previously considered brown are now trying to be seen as 'white'.

Stop calling South Europeans 'Meds'. Southern Europeans don't have real connections to the real ancient greeks (minoans) and are mostly descents of Barbarian Northern Europeans.
