Ireland is fine. I even asked a lot of people about it and they said that basically they welcome immigrants but don't allow you to be in Ireland if you don't assimilate. In the south usually the former, if you visit and you're interested in the language expect people to exaggerate or even straight up lie about their proficiency in it. Up north you get a lot of the latter because of the amount of loyalists but in nationalist communities I find people don't lie as much about being able to speak Irish, probably because our education system doesn't really include it at all unless you go to a Catholic secondary school. And even then most people drop it at GCSE. Whereas in the South they do it right up into they leave school and since they never actually use it they mistake having leaving cert Irish for being fluent in Irish. In reality the actual quality of Irish you're like to encounter is going to be on the same level of the amount of Spanish the average non-Latino American knows.
