Superhero culture is the nascent stage of a new polytheistic religion. In 100 years millions of people will believe Batman was a historical figure. Nature abhors a vacuum; atheistic materialism isn't sustainable. Humans are demanding a grand narrative, and Marvel/DC are giving it to them. Clown world hasn't even begun yet.

History repeats itself. The Hellenistic age is very much like our own. A time where gerenal collapse of culture and no sense of where the country is going leads to the people worshipping in strong men.
Since the death of God a vacancy has opened up. Many religions of the Hellenistic age sprang to life when the old gods we're in the past and new mystery cults became interesting. Hero worshipping religions included cults dedicated to Hercules.
A time were spasms of violence breaks out across the country, absent fathers and dominate mothers, the western world is looking for heros to save them from a dying world.
In the fall of Rome an Emporer name Commudos would dress as Hercules (a super hero) and walk around the city of Rome. This is an example if hero worship when the west declines.
My advice is to just to enjoy the show before we hit the dark age.
