The problem with Fascism (whether the Romans or to Nazis) was that it always devolves into pointless Imperialism; which is antithetical to the national focus. This inevitably sows the downfall of the nation as it collapses under its own weight through warmongering and expansion of nations far beyond the scope of it's own people.

The other problem is that collectivism should only emerge as a reaction to combat other collectivist forces. There needs to be a mechanism in place to decollectivize and return to the familial and communal focus rather than perpetually granting further and further sovereignty to the State who will always find new "opponents" against the State to justify its power consolidation.
