If and when most people on both sides of the border want it, I'd support a unification of Ireland.

As for uniting other countries, the obvious one is Czechoslovakia which should never have split in the first place.

But the real issue with splitting and uniting countries is the way laws are made and administered. Whether China should be split or united really depends on who'd run it afterwards. Its Communist Party is irredeemably corrupt, but whether changing the borders would help or hinder political change is unclear.

The biggest misstep of modern times was permitting the reunification of Germany. Germany should be split into a thousand piddling principalities and allowed to squabble amongst themselves, as they have done for most of recorded history.
