Why is the government allowed to make gambling illegal?

I can't play any of the slots or poker tables in an online video game with digital currency because the EU decided to make online gambling illegal in Europe.

its to stop kids from getting addicted to gambling and losing lots of money in the process.

See the whole scandal with CS:GO and the illegal sites you could gamble away your skins with real currency.

Besides you are better off without any gambling, however just having no real money involved in any transaction, I wouldn't see a problem personally.

gambling is degenerate

No is not. I won 5 grand from the Ruiz vs aj fight

It is fucking degenerate.

You win once big time then you lose a lot next time and seeking that another big win.

Its a drug that feeds into a negative zero-sum loop.

Its just not good.

ur still a degenerate you didnt earn that money

The state shouldn't babysit you. You should be able to do what the fuck you want with your money, even buying gamer girl bath water.

Because all you euro cunts are pussies.

EU sucks but NewGTA sucks more.

>[citation needed]
for me, nothing dissuaded me from gambling more than losing everything during my first time at a casino. only dumbasses become addicted, so let them. economic darwinism

Those fucking retards from R* haven't even added Texas Hold 'em. Where have they seen a casino without poker? Only thing we got is 3 card poker. What's up with that?

Is it blocked in norway also?

>old gaming: release new gta every 2 years
>new gaming: keep updating newest gta every 6 months for 6 years to extract more money from people

Maybe it requires a license or so.

>Not allowed to gamble with in game currency
This is the dumbest shit ever, the slots machine in pokemon or the roullette tables in GTA san andreas would never be allowed today.

My state NJ has legal gambling but you need a casino license to run a poker game and its restricted to atlantic city. Ive made my money playing holdem while in college instead of working a regular job and that includes lots of underground games while i was under 21. I really want full online legalization so i can make even more from online since its just nj NV and Delaware players rn.

Kek.

Of course it is legal, the stock market, real estate, banking, investment funds... are all legalized gambling.

the stock market certainly is

it's because you can buy in game currency with real cash

I get that, it's pretty sad they scrapped the online stock market they announced in the trailers back in 2013

Gambling is mostly regulated by the member states, not by the EU.
Some of them allow online gambling, some don’t.

enjoying the casino update now because gambling is the one thing that australia seems to have no problem with (probably related to the fact that all casinos and pokies in australia are owned by the government and 100% of revenue goes to the government).

and australia is any better?
you can be sure that if they released an airsoft/paintball or small tits update it would be banned here.

>Why is the government allowed to make gambling illegal?
What do you mean allowed? The government doesn't need your permission to do anything, it's sovereign. If it wanted to, it could fucking make YOU illegal and you won't be able to do shit about it, boy.

>The state shouldn't babysit you
Why do libfags always use phrasing suggestive of petty appeals to emotion, while claiming to be about "facts over feels"? It's not about absolving the gambler of reponsibility, it's about other people coming together to protect themselves from the consequences of the gambler's actions.

These debates always boil down to
>Is pre-emptive self defence aggression?
Why should the state "babysit" murderers?
>Because murder infringes upon the rights of others, gambling does not
Is retroactively punishing a murderer illiberal?
>Of course not, they have infringed upon the rights of others
Is pre-emptively intervening to prevent a murder illiberal?
>...
How do liberals answer this?
It seems that the answer is just
>Maybe
>Sometimes
>It depends
If I point a gun at you, am I infringing upon your rights? Even if I don't shoot? Are you just a snowflake for wanting to defend yourself? How have I actually harmed you? Where is the line, and how is it not arbitrary?

Gamblers are a threat to public order, and public disorder is seen as a threat by the individuals within a society. Why is
>If you don't like the rules, go somewhere else
the standard for businesses, but not for states? Nobody expects a liberal business. States are corporations, and liberal corporations are selected against. This can be observed from within capitalism itself. Capitalism is not self-similar at different scales. The internal policies of successful businesses do not mirror the values of the capitalist system at large, hence
>Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences
Liberal states are a meme. Freedom must be sacrificed to ensure the states survival under darwinian forces. There is no absolute liberalism. The only liberalism that can be realized is emergant liberalism, that being a plurality of states, each sacrificing different freedoms, and individuals chosing those states which minimally restrict the freedoms they personally value.

you still can gamble in csgo though, just buy keys and open crates wtf, how is that not illegal?

I just wish they would make the shitty multiplayer a separate exe already so I don't need a bazillion gigabytes of storage for the singleplayer
