In all honesty, I'm surprised to see so much debate around the minimum wage. It represents one of the most fundamental law of economics: the law of supply and demand. If a worker has no marketable skills (i.e. a teenager), obviously he should not expect to be paid a lot. Low wages encourages businesses to give teenagers a chance, and encourages teenagers to keep going to school to gain skills that will secure them a better paying job. The argument that "Anyone deserves to have a livable salary" is just wrong. Most people who are paid minimum wage are teenagers who eventually grow up to gain better salaries. If you're an adult and you have to work a minimum wage job, there is something wrong with you, not with the system. Holding people accountable for their mistakes is not a flaw of the system.
