I remember a lot of POWs hated mccain because he made enemy propaganda, he talked, and he pretended like the POWs still in vietnam didnt exist when he became a politician.
It was the US governments position that there were no more POWs in vietnam. They did this so the vietnamese wouldnt be able to use them as bargaining chips. Politicians like mccain who knew they were there couldve said something and worked to get them home. Instead they were ignored. Since they were useless to the vietnamese, at some point decades later they were all quietly executed

They hyped up things like claiming US soldiers were raping and massacring vietnamese. They took pictures of a failed south vietnamese bombing run that accidentally hit a village and posted the pic of a crying burnt girl running away implying the US was firebombing civilians. They took an out of context picture of a south vietnamese cop about to execute a VC death squad member who had tortured killed his friends entire family and plastered that on magazines out of context. They pretended like the tet offensive was a huge failure for the US when in reality it destroyed the VCs back and they gained nothing permanent. They did everything they could to portray the americans like monsterous baby killers and thats why brain dead leftists spit on troops WHO WERE DRAFTED AND HAD NO CHOICE ABOUT GOING and called them baby killers
