In the stream that he 'implied' it, it could have easily been him nodding to the previous part of the sentence in agreement due to the time delay, you see this on the news all the time for example when there is a lag.
It's tenuous at best and shouldn't have been jumped on as 'omg big evidence!'. Assange wouldn't 'imply' things anyway, he'd say it or not. Not 'kind of say it but not really'.

Actually, everyone was starting to get fed up with his info-baiting.
In fact, there was one night when he and Wikileaks were celebrating I think the organization's founding or whatever, in 2016 maybe.
Infowars, Alex Jones and Owen Shroyer were covering it live. Wikileaks was hosting this at basically 4am at night on a weeknight US, so a lot of us were tired as hell, anxious for news.
We get to the end of a bunch of boring speeches and Assange reveals that he wasn't actually going to release anything that night, claiming the occasion was inappropriate.
Everyone, including Infowars, was pissed off to the point of declaring him washed up.
He had already alienated a bunch of people even before the dead man switch dropped.
