With the majority of the citizens of the most powerful countries in the world complacent in capitalism and societal collapse around the corner, I don't believe we'll make it in time. Lately, temperatures in the arctic have reached heights of 80 degrees and higher. Permafrost containing billions of tons of greenhouse gases has been starting to melt 70 YEARS AHEAD of schedule. There's nothing the average American can do because of the porky government and even then the government won't do anything because the fascists that control it get most of their money from fossil fuel lobbyists. The u.s. or any other first world nation have no revolutionary potential and a revolution 20 years down the line will be too late. There's nothing we can do. Anyone else feeling the same about our prospects? I don't like being pessimistic but this stuff is becoming harder and harder to ignore. Especially in light of recent news.

We cannot stop the climate from changing. We should ban all taxpayer funding from going towards infrastructure that will be underwater in 100 years. This will force people to move inland or get private industry to make levee systems.
Short of purposely creating a nuclear winter we aren’t going to be able to stop global warming so our money should go towards help us adapt to the new normal.

For a while now, I've been pretty certain that I would witness the death of billions, if not join them myself in their great dying.

Why can't any of those scientists produce an accurate predictive model like we expect out of any other field of science?
Really makes me start to wonder if there are actually scientists coming up with closed system experiments that prove climate change and are repeatable. I'm sure they aren't just plugging variables they find in a textbook into theoretical equations and then getting government funding to try to convince the population that the math equations say scary things are going to happen soon.
At least those 3% dissenters are getting equal publicity and funding, and we'll be able to have a fair debate and get to see all the unmodified raw data to make an informed decision on the matter.
