80s had hope

This is the future we would be living in, if the 80s had been allowed to progress like it was meant.

Late 90s was the last time humanity dominated technology. After that, technology has been eating away at humanity ever since. Home gaming consoles was a fucking mistake, arcade gaming was wholesome as fuck. An important piece of humanity was lost the day the arcades closed down. If you experienced that in the early 90s I bet you can still feel the sting in your heart.

Home gaming is degenerate. It was okay with the Commadore64, because it couldn't satisfy you. So after loading up your batteries you always went out to skate or bicycle.

What was with all the shitty school reforms in the mid 90s? Holy shit, school became fucking torture. I used to pretend I was sick so I didn't have to go. And all the examples in the math book, the boy got the wrong answer and the girl got it right. It was fucking child abuse.

Netflix is degenrate. VHS rentals where wholesome. Usually it was some hopeful private business who took in candy from unknown brands, you never knew what to expect when you went into one of those places.

Furniture was colorful. The world had more colour, it was more vivid. City at night was beautiful, the summers were warmer. We all went out. Dude, I don't even think we locked the doors some nights.

>what is nostalgia?
doesn't mean I don't agree with you though.

You're such a goddamn boomer, how can having access to more movies, being able to play better shit at home, a bad thing? Explain fag.

I would just like to, from the bottom of my heart, apolagize for the mid 90s up until now, 2019. This is a fucking disgrace, we are taking the brunt of the sins of our forefathers. This is a piece of shit, everything that we had has been corrupted.

I would like to lead you towards the optimism of Back to the Future, where the world is bright, welcoming, people are savvy and nice to each other, punching your bully is totally justified, the past is a shithole, the future has flying cars. Marty McFly is a total manlet, yet still has a hot girlfriend. The world was just so positive and strong. Life came at you everyday, with great beauty and the sky was bluer, the grass was greener.

Look at the colour pallette of movies now a days, it is a green sludge. Everything has to be Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight. Every movie has to be political, it needs some other message than general happiness, fun and adventure.

Disney is to lazy to make hand-drawn movies like Lion King. All the shops are soulless profiteering chains, being a worker there is a fucking punishment. You know, my mom worked at a snackbar with a pool-table, and it was the coolest thing ever. Then she got a job sorting out documents for a rich oil company, that is some fucking upwards mobility shit! Fucking power-move for your career right there! It would never have happened today. Those jobs are done by automated computer programs.

We are getting fucked because we can't keep up with technology.

Look at school shootings, the really bad ones all start out past the mid 90s. Anything up until that was low injury, low death. We are headed over a cliff, we either go back or we will die.

Attached: a0322645324_10.jpg (1200x1200, 367K)

The decreasing divide between consumers and tech has been a bad thing, yes. The way computers have gotten faster, phone's more capable. It's less exciting to me. If there is no journey to be taken then this is all meaningless, the journey is the destination. Transhumanists and tech accelerationists make me sick. Really who cares if your comp is lightning fast if the internet is gay now, if graphics are great but the games are fucking boring. Who cares about all this luxury if it's making you sick?

fukin baste

(Not OP) The fundamental problem with technology is its de-evolving humanity by reducing our social skills, frequency of human interaction and reclusiveness. We are also bombarded with endless streams of marketing, disinformation, spam, perverse content (look around this shit hole), porn, etc. Sure the memes are great but technology is rapidly devolving us into what was seen in Idiocracy.

Because it doesn't make you happy.

The arcade was a legit viable way to network and gain influence. Do you think I intially knew everyone I played street-fighter with? I guarantee you, if you could go down to the arcade right now, if it was the 80s, and use your money to play some games for the next three hours, you would have three more friends.

VHS rental was a rare occasion. It was a big deal. Renting superman was a big fucking deal. That was news-worthy back then. You would invite people over for that. And they would bring their friends over too.

That is wholesome. Thats upward mobility. That is purpose for living.

And because all of this was in other buildings, there were actually people on the street. The streets are almost empty now. You don't see people headed for out for adventure, just because there is nothing else to do. You don't have huge gatherings of people standing in a circle in some random place. To me that looks like society is fucking dying.

To me that looks like Netflix, high speed internet, cell-phones, home consoles, is a step in the wrong direction. Away from utopia, towards dystopia. You would be better off in the 80s than you are now, I promise you. You would have less things, but you would have more people. And people would be more likeable.

Like, if you work in a grocery store, and people treat you like shit, because you're a cashier bitch: So, fuck you! That is some post 1995 bullshit. Nobody disrespected you for that in the 80s, because at any moment you could apply for a better job, so its obviously somewhat a choice. Yeah, and the stores closed early, so you could actually have a life besides working.

Cell-phones. Why the fuck should your employer be able to contact you 24/7? It is like you're a fucking slave. People were free in the 80s. Cell-phones are a fucking mistake. It should be reserved for people working high stakes jobs, that need to be available at all times. Not some poor ordinary schmuck.

niggers

jews

Haven't you actually seen the midnight in concert? It was a fucking amazing show!

I really feel this way. Something about the 80s and early 90s life and aesthetic just seems so cool and optimistic compared to now. I get sad when looking at vapor wave stuff. It’s like some alternate reality that never developed as it should have and all that are left are the ghosts of the past

youtube.com/watch?v=FZUfiW3W1KY

I agree man, there's a terrible delusion that tech must always move forward, but I think we'd all be happier if everything stopped progressing about 15 to twenty years ago. I was born in 93 so I know nothing about the eighties but my time was pretty comfy. We had computers consoles and phone's by then but they were exciting and we didn't tie our fucking arms and legs to them.

And I just want to say, I’m reading all your posts and really feeling it and appreciating the write up. It’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. The feeling I get when thinking of life and society in this time period overwhelms me with melancholy, bittersweet sadness and nostalgia, nostalgia for a time when I wasn’t necessarily around for all of it, but some of it. It’s this sad feeling that somewhere we just went really wrong and that life is not how it’s supposed to be

Reminder: As per The Matrix; 1999 was the pinnacle of human civilization, because after that it really became (((their))) civilization.

Yeah, and I am here to tell you that its right. You are right. It was better back then. This, whatever this shithole we have right now is, it is objectively inferior to the 80s.

Look at this:

youtube.com/watch?v=RYbe-35_BaA

I remember this. If somebody had a film camera back then, that was a happening. That was like being in an actual movie, we all did something goofy in front of the camera.

We didn't have this fucking shitty ass "Ouh, I am living an apolagy"-attitude back then. Like, approaching a girl back then wasn't as bad, because you knew that there was nothing better around than other people. People think they have something better, because the phones are flatter, they have colour screens, better graphics.

But there is nothing, NOTHING! that you currently own right now, that would not be replaced by something from the 80s, that is ultimately more primitive, yet better for you!

I mean, cell-phones really are the perfect example. Your boss can call you at any moment and nag you about comming in to work tomorrow, on a fucking Saturday morning! Thats just! JUST! Thats just fucking evil, man! That thing is of the fucking devil. You're not free, your boss can call you at any moments notice and have you work, and if you don't he won't promote you. And if you work at somekind of store, it propbably doens't close before late at night. We had to get our shopping done before eight. The cashiers could actually have a life besides working. It was good, respectable job, nothing special, but on the same level as bank clerk.

How do you really feel about that??? Huh? Your boss can call you at any moment. Nag you about work. On your fucking Saturday. In the 80s, the shift-plan was set in stone, nobody dared to puss out and pretend to be sick, because that was an unacceptable dick move. If you had Saturday off, you had a saturday off. You were free. You are not free, your boss can call you up any time. Not even paid more for it.

>phones
I was fired from a job in part because I would not spend hundreds out of my own pocket to buy a new smartphone so that I could use their retarded task-tracking program. If my own phone isn't good enough for your low-paying part-time job, and especially if you require constant phone use in a rough environment that is likely to kill a phone within a year or two, you should be providing your employees with phones and employees should not tolerate this shit.

In large part it's a failure of organized labor mentality, we had generations that reaped the benefits that unions in previous decades had literally fought, bled, and even died for. But the boomers never fought, to the boomer unionmen a "fight" was an optional strike lasting a few weeks. So they never taught their kids to stand up, organize, fight together against corporate for their rightd rather than amongst themselves over shit like which rapper can suck the biggest cock. Bringing in millions of beans as non-integrating strikebreakers, along with drugs and mindless sex mentality, was another bullet fired by corporate at the workers.

YES! Thank you!

So many people deeply know in their hearts that we fucked up. Yet, nobody says anything. Okay, you were not around for the eighties, so what? I am here from the 80s and I am telling you that you are 100% objectively right about this.

I mean for fucks sake. Look at what has happened since then:

>Arcade closes down
No more gathering places for nerdy guys. If you are in a pack of nerds, you are on a lone island and those people will be the only people you ever get to know. There is no connection to any other group. The arcade was like the nerd embassy, where occasional jocks, Chads, girls, and people of all ages would visit. The majority of incels and forever alones right now, are a product of this. A nerd in the 80s knew all the other nerds, but they also knew jocks, because they were competative. And the jocks brought girls. And you knew some people that were older than you, some people that were younger than you. Today, if you are a nerd, you probably have two-three close friends, and just tolerate the rest of the world. FUCK UP BIG TIME YEAH!

>VHS rentals dissapear
These were comfy places. When you met people here, you were allowed to talk, because you are both there to rent movies. So you know you're bored. And sometimes you would team up and rent a movie together. At the same place you could also rent NES, SEGA and lots of games. And usually, it was some privately owned comfy place, that ordered candy from lesser known brands. You could find all kinds of things there. Or you could by collectable Pogs or Mortal Combat cards. Pogs was fucking based, Pokemon is just about making you buy shit, Pogs actually had people playing it. You could play against hot girls way out of your league and get to know one another. Pog was so fucking epic you wouldn't believe. Thousands of times better than gotta buy it all Pokemon.

Fuck the 80s. The rise of consumerist culture. Everything was fake, their sentiment of the future was nice, sure, but reality is often disappointing.

Listen, I love arcades more than anyone I know. I grew up in arcades, playing games like Time Crisis but how the fuck is paying for a quick game in a public place better than unlimited game time in the comfort of your own home? Arcades are a cool relic of the late 20th century and I hope they stick around for the sake of nostalgia but home consoles revolutionized gaming for the better.

Socialization

>Unlimited game time
That's the problem.

Consoles means not having to deal with feral niggers.

kikemasons derailed everything with the niggerfication of media

Attached: nelly-mtv-video-music-awards-2003-G6G6PA.jpg (329x526, 63K)

This is somewhat ironic post from my part. But there is a fucking lesson here. There is a truth to this sketch right here, and it touches on the essence of what the 80s did right.

youtube.com/watch?v=QDgHO15Bb58

Yeah, you have better graphics. Faster internet. But at the end of the day, you would be better off in the 80s.

It wouldn't be like living in 2019 without all your tech. The 80s was a better place.

You think playing doom is cool now. Back then it was fucking naughty to play doom. God did not want you to play doom. Your religion teacher would spend an entire class preaching about the dangers of Mortal Kombat and Doom. Big tech wanted to censor it. It was on the fucking news. If you played doom back then, it was like the big forbidden secret. Nothing those graphics do to you can even touch what the real Doom experience was like. Your hands would be shivering, you needed people to guard the windows in case parents came back. We had schools shut down for a day over that shit. It was an adventure, and you along with all the other people were the heroes. It was real, it was part of the world, not an escape from it.

The Ludd is strong in this one. And I mean that as a sincere compliment. If I could, I would trap myself in the amber of the 1980s, the last somewhat wholesome decade.

>mentioned upward mobility
Fuck me dry user that's what our generation will never have automation has squeezed out all the transition jobs. Jobs at that might get you into head office cause the ceo chatted you at work. None of the networking at work stuff exists now cause computers fill in all the gap jobs, everyone is disconnected a work.

>Comfy optimism
That was the highlight of the 80s you knew that the future was bright and tomorrow would be better.
That's what was lost in the 90s we live in a world of fear and isolation, no more small town trust.

I can attest to this feeling of melancholy. I actually feel a similar kind of yearning when seeing visuals related to cyberpunk 2077 or cyberpunk in general with an allusion to the fact that it is the future.

I'm lost mentally and feel like there is no place for me in this timeline. I didn't feel this way all the way up until about 1.5 years after I got off the school train and graduated college. That was when I truly got red pilled to the situation we find ourselves in and my hopes and desires disappeared and were replaced with despair and melancholy for the past, present, and future, and a desire to find a piece of all those that I like and somehow manifest it into my reality.

if you think Miami is still like this I've got bad news

Attached: Miami.png (627x533, 43K)

You seem to be really into it. Recommend me some films from the 80s with this positive attitude going on. Want to watch a film with my gf

Whaddyahmean? Phones are absolutely required in 2019! I'm required to be on-call if a truck is late or something.

>tfw all I wanted to do in life was to work at a video rental place and discuss storytelling and move-making craft
>tfw these dont exist anymore and any dreams associated went with it

Maybe in some far-off distant nirvana will I ever get a chance to work at one...

The world wasn’t as bad in the 90’s and 00’s as you make it seem. Complaining about console gaming is pointless because not nearly as many people had home consoles. It wasn’t a thing where every house in America had to have one, many parents were flat out against games and if you played them into adolescence you were bullied for it.

Damn I miss blockbuster

At least italo-disco was pretty good, so good in fact this is the opening track to the second act in the screenplay based upon my dad around the turn of the decade, with the working title of:

Dude, at some level, I think it is better for the people born in 90s that they never got to experience the 80s. The pain of knowing what has been lost is just fucking brutal.

Like, I remember the day I drove into the big city to play at the big arcade, the best one, and they were carrying out the dead cabinets. I played on the pinball thing, the one that was manual, because that was the only one left. I felt like Robocop in the remake when he goes "Oh my god, theres nothing left", they fucking ruined an entire social eco system. Then, the next time the place was just a closed empty husk, then it became a store for women clothes. JUST FUCK MY SHIT UP! Fucking brutal.

Because I see kids now, lonely skinny kids wandering alone. Knowing full well that these kids would be way better off in the 80s. Dystopian doesn't even come close to describing it.

>Upward mobility
Yeah, holy shit. I see people who have worked and slaved their entire adult life at some company. I had a inspector at the school, who if the principal had quit in the 80s, the inspector would have become the next principal. The position was given to some butch dyke lady who smelled musk. And this guy had been working at that school his entire adult life, he didn't even compute what the fuck was happening. He got totally destroyed, cucked beyond belief.

Also, you could get a job back then, at almost anything. Without education, because they would babysit and train you, because why not? Getting to know new people, train them to do the job the way you want it done, seems like a good deal right! That was what everyone did in the 60s and 70s, so they climb up into those good position. Then BOOOOOM comes the fucking douchebag 90s, now you gotta have at least put yourself in 3years of collage levels of debt, to even file papers and the welfare office. It is fucking savage as fuck! If you are a kid in school today, doing just beneath average, they will ruin your life.

you know what still existed in 1984?

the soviet union

you know what happened when it collapsed in 1991?

the current world

enjoy

I just want to relive 1999.

This must be why Vice City is still my favourite GTA. Dat nostalgia.

They started to push the MLK cult, PC, etc in the early 90s.

Correlation =/= Causation

Soviet's union collapse was to the world what Jow Forums's deletion would be to the internet. Soviet Union was the perfect containment zone for marxist fuckery.

And what? Freak the fuck out over the Y2K bug?

Attached: 51FZC0JCETL.jpg (310x475, 54K)

And have a good time, like I did in 99.

Artificial moral panic pushed by people like Hillary Clinton.

I was homeless at the time, but if the shit was going to hit the fan, I would have been acclimated.

Thanks!!

Yeah, but that was fucking epic god level bro-tier shit! An older boy letting you play his last life at some game, because you have been staring at him playing it, wishing you had a quarter so you could play some games too. That is the original, thats the inspiration behind that basketball player throwing the towel to his fan "Hey kid, catch!". And you knew that one day, you would be that cool older boy, letting some other kid play one for free. It was the circle of life, things made sense, the wolrd was balanced, the world was good, hopeful. We never said "We are all gone make it" because it didn't need saying.

I can only speak for my country. But basicly teachers were like "Eyyh, those kids seem to be having an awful lot of fun in school. That can't be good for math and shit." also, you had the whole faggotry about not getting back at the bullies, because for some fucked up reason thats not okay. Because we should rather spread rumors about each other, like the perfect girls do. Basicly, the idea after 1945 was that there were some skills everyone was supposed to have, and in the 90s it was like "Our eight year olds have to be smarter than chinese eight year olds". And school got longer days, we spent less time in groups, less time on situational learning. More time memorizing texts in books.

Instead of grades, because they couldn't grade us, we got learning goals. If we didn't fulfull these, teachers would contact your parents and be like: Your kid has poor achievement in this goal. Basicly, if you were an introvert, you didn't get shit from school, but at the price of having less friends. If you were low iq, but great with people, you ignored school and talked in class, because there was no way to win. I mean, most of them had reading problems, what were they supposed to do? Just don't have dyslexia.

Nobody likes school now.

It's refreshing to see so many others here who remember the 80s so well!

Admittedly, nostalgia does gloss over some of the bad things about the time (the rise of violent gangs, gov't starting to really expand its controls via tech, the Cold War, mohawks..), but I'll say this--the 1980s was a freaking MAGICAL time to grow up. New music, new games, new cartoons, microwave ovens and home computers.. But still enough old-fashioned upbringing to not let it run away with us too much.

The media, movies in particular, went south when they decided that controlling people's opinions mattered more than telling a story.

As for arcade games vs. home games...meh. I played on a Commodore 64 as much as I liked (when not doing homework), and still found time to get out, ride my bike, play wargames with buddies across town.. And yes, go to the arcade. And I was a relatively isolated nerd!

I do agree that the eroding social skills have a big part to play in this.. We're forgetting how to talk to each other. Or just not caring as much.

I was born in 86 so I was a kid during the 90s. Something strange occured. I remember the summer nights being almost mystical, full of dreams and adventure, deliciously inviting and smiling. I remember how the colors of the world were so vivid, so real, so meaningful. I remember how we were all friendly to each other, how adults were nice to us, how us kids respected them and just how friendly and brotherly everyone was. There was no sense of danger whatsoever. I remember my dad bringing Conan the Barbarian on VHS, and how watching it with him on that dark winter night was an event, an experience. All movies like that were an event. Or him taking me to watch Mortal Kombat in the theater. I remember sharing the bed with my cousin one night during a family visit, and how we felt disobedient for talking and drifting into sleep after the lights were out. I remember how nice the girls were, how trusting and worthy of being protected and cherished, and yet seductive in their modesty. I remember watching anime on German satellite channels, and how utterly dazzling and magical it was. There was no easy access to anything, every moment was precious. I remember the beaches before mass tourism, before human shit flooded it all. I thought it holy.

It is all gone now. I sometimes wish I died with it, because whatever this world is is utterly incompatible with me. It's as if everything is designed to make you suffer, as if everything has become ugly and HATES beauty.

To me this triggers nostalgia. Those sunset colors, Lum as a symbol of the world I remember. I want it all back. Is that possible? To me this degraded world doesn't seem like it is the result of any human agency. It's as if its soul has been poisoned and sucked out, the inner light behind it has been extinguished.

anyway, being born in 1982 I can feel the nostalgia very well.
For a strange coincidence, on a personal level all went to shit beginning from late 1999.

Damn it, how did I forget about all the kung-fu movies that exploded in the 80s?

...That's it. I'm dusting off Five Deadly Venoms tonight... Yesteryear, here I come!

the 80s was here a rough time for the first five years, riots, unemployment, recession.
walk around in the wrong clothes and risk a beating.

around late 85 things started to improve & the latter 80's became more serious about money and health, a precursor to the current culture.

the early 80's:

mid to late 80s:

Satanic imagery and pixelated blood. Basicly, it was dangerous, forbidden and had to be stopped. So if you could get a hold of Doom, it was even better than finding a discarded porn magazine in the trash. If you had played Doom, it was like you had had a sip from the holy grail.

I tell you what it does to you! You can fucking see the appeal of being Amish. Just branching off from civilization like "Fuck this, fuck you. I am gonna live in the eightees! I am gonna buy some dying mall, put in a bunch of 80s stuff. Bring some friends over and raise my kids in an 80s colony. Have fun with the immigration, SJW and trying to fix the middle-east, I am so fucking done with this shit!" And just create a pocket 80-dimension. Then use the aid of modern technology to make it even better. The way the 80s could have progressed if we had the foresight to see where shit was headed.

Technology distracting us from socially interacting is a big part of it, but I think changing demographics might be the biggest problem.
There have been studies that show that "diverse" communities have lower social trust and cohesion and other positive things like this: archive.boston.com/news/globe/ideas/articles/2007/08/05/the_downside_of_diversity/
>> But a massive new study, based on detailed interviews of nearly 30,000 people across America, has concluded just the opposite. Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam -- famous for "Bowling Alone," his 2000 book on declining civic engagement -- has found that the greater the diversity in a community, the fewer people vote and the less they volunteer, the less they give to charity and work on community projects. In the most diverse communities, neighbors trust one another about half as much as they do in the most homogenous settings. The study, the largest ever on civic engagement in America, found that virtually all measures of civic health are lower in more diverse settings.
I don't know if society needs to start over, if new cities or communities need to be created, if technology needs to change, or if a great war or conflict is needed, but I think many people who remember the 80s and 90s feel that way.
As a counterpoint to this, I think every generation felt uneasy with social changes going on in their time period. Today we look back at the 50-60s with fondness and think of it perhaps as peak Americana, or at least one of the golden ages of our culture. But older folks at the time probably saw different kinds of music emerging, tv rotting kids brains, and other changes and thought the same thing.

ITT: old fucks bitch about how their degenerate generation was less degenerate than the current degenerate generation.

You should see 1960s California. Paradise subverted, squandered, stolen. We're not allowed to have nice things or nice places. When someplace is too nice or white or not indebted to the central bank, it has to be infiltrated by the tribe, have it's laws subverted, overruled by communist judges, opened to the world, and filled with the savages of the Earth. What they did to California in 40 years, they are doing to Oregon, Washington, and Idaho in under 10 years.

Can anyone explain these walmart pictures that keep popping up?

>Renting superman was a big fucking deal. That was news-worthy back then. You would invite people over for that. And they would bring their friends over too.

90s kid here. Renting a vhs movie was something you did on a weekend. The parents would order takeout like a pizza or chinese food and/or make popcorn the movie. Then wed sit and watch the movie. Movies where only bought on birthdays and other special ocas so the selection wasnt great except for weekends. Most kids only got video games (saga megadrive) on birthdays or chirstmas so selection was low. So we would trade in school or rent on the weekend. Il never forget the smell of blockbusters and the experience of looking through the various movies and posters as a kid. Sometimes my dad would get a poster for us. Hed usually rent whatever we wanted as long as it wasnt sex heavy. Violence didnt seem to be a problem (Terminator 2)

and yes, arcades where for socializing. we went to play a few games (we could only afford a couple) but mostly just watch and walk around and attempt to interact with girls, pretending to be cooler than your school status dictated

i remember seeing a girl under those lights that made me stop think girls where to be avoided.

Purple neon and pop that hit the stomach. WWF. When the Simpsons was funny and people where nice to eachother

im annoyed i couldnt spend my teens/young adulthood in the mid 80s-mid-late 90s. Someone invent a time machine and get us out of this nasty ass decade please

Yeah man! What the fuck happened to the colors??? You remember it too! The grass was greener and the sky was bluer. Everything now has this gray tint. It fucking drives me nuts. Like, the grass is not green, it is dark green with a hint of gray. It is ugly! The ocean is a dirty green blue, it used to be turqouize man! And what happened to the seagulls?? There used to be lots of seagulls! The sun used to be higher.

It is shit like this, just small things, little details that are different now, that really gets me! Like, the smells in the different houses. Now, every house smells the same! There is something going on here, makes me paranoid that I am living in some hellish simulation.

If you think that it is just nostalgia. Ask anyone who is around 45 years old today, wich century they would rate the best. The answer is always the 80s. Its not even a contest.

Even people who have not been in the 80s knows that the 80s were the best. People are still listening to whitesnakes and Van Halen. People still love back to the future, people still watch reruns of McGuyver.

I am here to tell you, that this study here is just propaganda. 2019 is inferior to 1980-1992. The list of reasons is long, some of them have been mentioned in this thread.

Let it be said and known, that if you could choose to be in any generation. You would want to be born to be in the 80s, then climb the corporate ladder, and get a good job before the insane demands start appearing around the late 2000.

Like, Jeez, can you even work filing papers without a bachelors degree in this day and age. That is a death sentence for anyone who is just slightly bad at reading. Good luck trying to get a living wage job.

VR has the potential to fix video games. It strongly encourages not being a lazy piece of shit. It may also end up in an arcade-like format, augmented reality VRFPS, like laser tag, at least until full dive is possible. It is still an enthusiast product that many aren't ready for, but for some, including myself, it has already made conventional video games redundant and brought great benefits.

I hope in 10 years time we do have the Jow Forums gamer meme widespread but I'd say it hangs in the balance of whether financial incentive can push through to mass appeal, or if it will just be shelved for a few decades again. Either way, I'm done with flat games. They're a waste of time.

My senior year was 87 and I didn't care much for the decade personally.

Nostalgia notwithstanding, the world has become objectively shittier over the past several decades. There is more junk and more entertainment but who gives a fuck if you have more trash to fill your worthless and hopeless life?

yeah, its walmart user taking pics from the break room as usual.

You know its deliberate right ?

They are deliberately dragging culture to the lowest common denominator in order to collapse the system and bring in the new one

Its textbook Kabbalah. They where experimenting with cultural optimism there for a while but now everyone has to be dragged into the absolute depths of the pit in order to literally collapse society so they can institute the NWO (when they will create a Renaissance and put everything upbeat). Thats the extent to which these people play you

Let them have it i say. They may be our memories but it was never our culture

Get out of Babylon, she is a whore with aids

Go to the mountains, into the forests. Live off grid and be free of the hypercube and its apostles

What's the point of these shitty nostalgia threads? Fucking 80s are dead and gone, enjoy your 21st century hell.

We had this thread yesterday and I posted a bunch in it. I welcome it again with open arms. It was comfy as shit

Do you know what really gets me? The moon. The moon looks nothing like it did when I was a kid, and it does some really strange things. To make matters more eerie I work night shifts and basically get to see it every few days, so I see it on a regular basis. The moon as I remember it never rotated sideways for instance, and it's "face" looks all kinds of messed up. It also seems to change sizes. Sometimes when it's full it looks smallish, then the next night it'll look almost double in size.

I'm aware none of that is possible and that it sounds batshit crazy, but I can't deny what I see.

As for the sun many people have said how its light is now far too white and brutal, as opposed to the yellow tint it once had. It's a bleached color now. All colors seem messed up, dull, washed out, gray as you put it.

>smells

Are muted as well for me.

>ywn again feel that first time seeing a DVD in stores and remembering your dad's prediction that "Movies on CD" would be a thing in the future.

I noticed there are no longer ants in the street of the city.
When I was a kid whenever your ice cream or chips fell onto the ground, soon you would have lines of ants going there and eat it.
Not anymore now, I only see flies and cockroaches.

Im not even fucking with you guys. We know they run the entire entertainment industry, and its all centralized. The music itself is being designed to put people into a depression, into the sunken place. Listen to the notes (check out Hanz Utter discussing this on Jan Irving). The switch from the mildly utopian, caring and supportive relationships shown in Friends...to the sharp, nasty sardonic interactions shown in Scrubs...Im telling you man, the whole thing is orchestrated down the finest cue. They are trying to induce social collapse through degrading culture and art

Yeah, sure.

Just watch the commercials from the 80s and compare it with the shit you see today.

I just saw a commercial about traveling to Greece, to go on a vacation. It was the saddest shit I have ever seen. It was a girl, university age, looking up cheap vacations online, from her dorm, all alone. And I know what she is gonna do, she is gonna go down there and slut herself out, to people she doesn't care about, who doesn't care about her. Get used as a cumdumpster. Then she is gonna take the plane home to shitty rainy Norway, and pretend that having done this means that she is now happy.

And commercials are like: You! You fat disgusting piece of shit! Your breath stinks! You are fucking ugly and alone! You wanna die alone! You wanna go around with your stinky piss breath, turning all the women off!? You better fucking buy Listerine! You fucking loser! You need some fucking dynamite in your smelly shithole mouth! Fucking pathetic unattractive man! Its mouth wash, what the fuck do you want!?? Are you a father? Are you a man!? Fuck you! We hate you!

Then I go to youtube and look up 80s and early 90s commercials. Their dad-jokes man! They are funny skits, inclusive of both genders. Its wholesome families. It is malls welcomming you to visit them. It is a totally different energy. Its like:

Hey sir! How are you doing! Can I help you to day? Is there anything I can do for you? Listen to this song about our product we made for you. Did you like that? Do I pleasure you? Do you need anything? Can I suck your dick sir? Would you please come down to my store and let me suck you off sir?

Now, every commercial is like: You are fucking ugly, better do something, by my fucking product! And we are getting it every where! Adds are all over the fucking place.

loooooool this is epix

The 90s weren't that bad. I'm old and lived through the totality of both decades and they were both similar in comfy in their own way. Yes, around 1999, things started to get pozzed, but from 1980-1997 we were pure

>two girls
>seven dudes with their shirts off

I bet you do think that's paradise

The moon rotates now?

>It’s this sad feeling that somewhere we just went really wrong and that life is not how it’s supposed to be

it was called "9/11" and most of 'Jow Forums' was in diapers when it happened.

This day was the apocalypse. It just didnt look the way the very TV, movies other jew programming this thread is pining in nostalgia for promised.

but what 9/11, DID make good on as the apaclypse, was utterly crashing humanity into a negative, inverted, pessimistic shell of its former self.

Attached: Sept11.jpg (840x566, 124K)

Fuck the ever living shit out of YOU and people like you
>WAAAAH BOOOMERS DID THIS
>BBOOOOMERS RUINED MY LIFE AND DIDNT FIGHT FOR ME

so, what exactly, have you done today? where is your 'fight'? why arent you at the border defending it?

its utterly pathetic to blame boomers for anything.

IT WAS MILLENIALS THAT CAUSED EVERY.SINGLE.PROBLEM.

SEE, Boomers held the line. They kept insane feminists in check, they kept minorities in check and on and on and on.

but the LITERAL SECOND millenials reached 18, then 25 and now 30's, they have been successively dropping the ball harder and further, and blaming it on boomers.

Truck commercials in the US are exactly like this, because every guy running a landscaping company needs to be able to tow a fucking aeroplane, although beer commercials still have that friendly vibe to trick the goyim into equating [good feeling] ~ [alcohol].

>the whole thing is orchestrated down the finest cue. They are trying to induce social collapse through degrading culture and art

Indeed.

Changes such as these vary wildly between countries and regions, as far as I've gathered.

Yes. Like the wheel of a car or bike. I first noticed it a few years back, but I swear it didn't do that up until that point.

Here's another change - thunder sounds far more threatening and crackling than it did when I was a kid. Again, I noticed this a few years back. It just sounds incredibly angry and aggressive, for lack of better term. It's a much sharper sound than it once was.

We could have retrosynth cyberpunk future with flying cars by now if the Clowns wernt holding the technology back (and we could age regress). Tell me more about this 80s breakaway society tho, your ideas Intrigue me

Milenials put OBAMA in office, almost singlehandedly.

Obama triggered the socio-cultural collapse of the United States. This is an indisputable, objective fact. All this "political insanity" going on is collapse. Our government no longer functions. Nothing gets done anymore, no forward progress is made. The only talk is talk of dismantling and removing. Taking "rights" away, not granting new ones.

you all need to wake up. OUR COUNTRY COLLAPSED in 2016. America has been in a cultural CIVIL WAR for 3 years. We all feel it inside of us, and see it daily in our neighbors and the news.
it is merely 'persisting' as a function of the system our infinitely wise forefathers created should such a thing happen.

America collapsed in totality in 2016 culturally. There is a division in our country that can NEVER be healed.

I know. It's very obvious.

Old fag 70’s were the last good time in America it died with Reagan / people were still people then - the world was full of promise - the wall in Europe came down - a full fledged tale over by CIA ETC. Came with Daddy Bush and the Uber FASCIST dare program where kids snitched on their mothers and fathers for rolling papers and pipes - several friends were arrested when their children terrified by uniformed cops in the schools told the kids “their parents were in danger if they marijuana pipes”

All normalcy was suffocated choked out - AMERICA IS FUCKING DED
FB zombies terrified of Hobgoblins fabricated by their overlords - welcome to the slave planet

No age group caused it, its called de-industrialization, which was supposed to lead to cyberpunk and then full utopia but it never happened because certain established power blocks are holding it back and the ones pushing forward dont have the balls to go full black ops and just kill them all
