These "little blue books" were apparently popular in the US after in the 1920's. They were self-published by an "atheist-Jew, socialist, and newspaper publisher, and his wife" named Emanuel Haldeman-Julius.

Yeah the re-titling tricks, and others, are much of the value of reading First 100 Million. If a book wasn't selling they'd put it "in the hospital" and work out why, then try again. They even retitled classics to sell them more.
