It's not AS bad as it looks once you factor in free good health care, free good college and school, free gibs to students for living expenses, large public pensions etc.
On top of that, Denmark is a very safe country, is very white, has very free markets, has strict immigration (compared to the US and the rest of Europe), some of the shortest work hours in the world, long vacations and people aren't as brainwashed by PC cultures as most other westerners.

It's true that it's significantly higher pre net transfers. However, once you factor in the things I mentioned it's not that much worse. Also, while the pre tax yearly salaries for a lot of "good" jobs are somewhat similar in the US and Denmark, you have to factor in the fact that Americans work much longer hours (oftentimes 20%+ more). In other words, the hourly salaries are actually very good in Denmark.

And it's not just about money. If you want to become a succesful accountant (or any other career) in countries like the US and Japan you HAVE to work very long hours. At least for the first 5-15 years. This means a lot of Americans have to choose between being succesful and having a reasonable amount of free time while they're young. In Denmark you don't have to choose between your career and free time to the same extent. A lot of people with very prestigious jobs have plenty of free time and vacation.

Just a word of warning though. I've been in this DP system for over a year now, and I'm finding it hard to land interviews despite me having a degree in IT. If they see that your CV is "old" they (HR) are more likely to just put it to the side and not consider you as a candidate.
