I can understand how an able bodied person could become homeless. West coast rent and house pricing is astronomical and unless you work in tech you just don't make the money to meet it. I just don't understand how an able bodied person can stay homeless. I'm pretty lucky up here in Oregon making decent money to afford my own place comfortably, but if I ever fell on hard times and had to live out in the streets I'd use my last bit of money to buy a ticket straight to Kansas and work out there where prices are much cheaper and rent is almost nothing. The thought of staying and being homeless is an entirely alien concept to me.

Is the promise of hand outs and flowery words enough to keep people suckling on the restrictive teat of government? How can you debase yourself like that?

My insanely leftist city tried to pass the same law a few months ago but it was struck down hard (somewhere around 77% voted against it). The armed whites live far north of San Francisco. In northern California you can regularly hear people firing off guns with 30 round magazines, which is a federal weapons violation.
